Welcomes
ST DAVID’S MARIST INANDA
Friday 31 May & Saturday 1 June 2019
On behalf of Clifton School, it is my real pleasure to welcome all players, parents,
supporters and staff to our Morningside and Riverside campuses.
In particular I extend a warm welcome to Mr Mike Thiel, Executive Headmaster,
and Mr Nick Clogg, Head of the Prep, as well as to the staff, players and
supporters from St David’s Marist Inanda. We value the relationship we enjoy with
St David’s, and trust that this will be strengthened by our friendly rivalry today. We
at Clifton certainly enjoyed our visit up to Gauteng to play St David’s last year. This
fixture on our calendar is a most endearing one as it includes both our respective
Prep and Colleges.
We can also promise our visitors a warmer morning than the one they may have
experienced up in Gauteng recently!
I also wish to extend our grateful thanks to the coaches from both schools, the
support staff and our Estates team whose hard work behind the scenes make
fixtures such as these a reality. A special word of thanks, of course, to those
members of the respective management teams who make all the arrangements
for a big fixture like this one.
Enjoy the games today. I trust that they will be played in the true spirit of school-
boy sport and sportsmanship, where the amateur ethos of playing the game for
the love of it, and not just for the prize, still prevails. No matter the outcome of
any game, may Sport be the true winner.
Please join us for tea at the respective venues over the course of the fixture.
Warm Regards,
DAVE KNOWLES
EXECUTIVE HEADMASTER

On behalf of Clifton School, we welcome all players, coaches, parents and support staff
to Clifton, and to DNC and Riverside grounds.
A special welcome to our visitors from St David’s Marist Inanda. It is wonderful for our
schools to enjoy a full set of fixtures today in both the Preparatory School and the
College. Our long-standing relationship and the friendly rivalry between our schools on
the sports fields is one that we greatly value.
We also wish to extend our thanks to the coaches, support staff and the estates teams
of both our schools, who make fixtures such as these possible.
Enjoy the games and may they be played in the true spirit of sport. Please join us for
tea at the respective venues over the course of the afternoon.
Yours faithfully
