Purpose for reading: By reading this article, you will have a better idea of how to write an effective philosophy paper, also known as an argumentative paper.
A. Answer the following question set:a) Make a list of a minimum of 5 suggestions or tips the author gives
in order to write a good philosophical/argumentative paper.
b) Why does the author suggest making several drafts of the paper? What questions should you consider?
c) How is this type of writing different than a 5-paragraph essay?
B. Fill out graphic organizer attached to reading.

Homework review:List and describe the following items:
What terms and ideas that need to be defined
3 reasons why your thesis is correct
Objections to reasons
Why objections are not correct
Think about your essay using our homework!Section I: thesis
State thesis
Section II: Terms List terms and ideas that need to be defined Define terms and ideas
Section III: Reasons/argument Reason(s) why your thesis is correct
Just one or two sentences describing it
Section IV: objections 1-3 sentences describing objections to reasons
Section V: refute objections 1-3 sentences describing why objections are not
correct
Do not answer with a simple yes or no! Section I:
How does the thesis make sense? Is it clearly defending or attacking Free will or Determinism?
Section II: Can you think of any other terms or ideas that need to be
defined? Has the author clearly defined those terms and ideas well
enough?
Section III: Are these good reasons that can be explained using section
II?
Section IV: How realistic are these objections? Come up with some other
objections to section II and III
Section V: How did the author refute the objections?
