News from theNuclear Decommissioning Authority

Did you know... The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) does not directly managethe facilities that it owns. The management and delivery of site programmes is via themanagement and operations contracts with licensed operators, referred to as site licencecompanies (SLCs). Each site has an SLC that holds the licence to operate from theregulators.

It is the role of the SLC to manage the site, prepare site plans and manage their supplychain (perform or subcontract). The NDA introduces competition to the strategicmanagement of the SLCs by tendering for parent body organisations (PBOs). The PBOs

Page 4: Welcome to the third edition of the Nuclear Supply Chain e

own shares in the SLCs and provide secondees into the SLCs' management teams with theaim of improving performance, encouraging innovation and increasing value for money.

This flow diagram shows how these interactions work:

The map on the next page shows the locations of all NDA sites and other civil nuclear sites, and identifies the SLC in each case. Website addresses are provided for the relevant SLC for each site, from where you will be able to access a suppliers page.
