A19/A1058 Coast Road junction Improvements
Welcome to our public awareness exhibitionWe are holding this public awareness exhibition to help you obtain a better understanding of the planned improvements to the A19/A1058 Coast Road junction. We’re investing £75 million to improve the junction of the A19 and the A1058 Coast Road in North Tyneside.
Once completed in March 2019, the scheme will bring real benefits for drivers in the North Tyneside area and to the wider economy – it will reduce congestion and help keep traffic moving, making journey times more reliable. It will also mean improved safety for road users and the local community.
This scheme is being carried out by contractors Sisk-Lagan JV on behalf of Highways England. Construction started 2016 and is due to be completed March 2019.

A19/A1058 Coast Road junction Improvements
What you will see when we’ve finishedWe will be lowering the A19 beneath the existing A1058 Coast Road and roundabout. Construction work will involve the digging out of a new underpass to accommodate the A19, and the construction of three new structures to support the existing carriageways.
As part of the improvement work new slip roads will be created and five new bridges, two of which will provide improved facilities for pedestrians and cyclists travelling along the A1058 Coast Road.
