In this group we have 4 Catechumens, 3 sponsors, 4 baptized who come to refresh their knowledge on our Catholic faith. We meet once a week for 1 and half hours.
The 5 catechists (who graduated from the CCC last year) take turn in teaching the class. They are: (from left to right) Priscilla Lee, Christopher Leung, Kelly Kong, Union Wu, Rosenda Chan.
Our Chinese-speaking catechists who have finished their catechist certification last year are helping with RCIA at St. Anne of the Sunset Church. They provide instruc-tion/preparation in Cantonese. How nice to have them join in this important ministry.
Our Pius X Awards and
Recognition Dinner is on May 3rd. It is a wonderful time to celebrate all of our faithful volunteer catechists. Remember to send in for Papal Certificates as soon as possible. It takes time to get them back from Rome.

Congratulations to the DREs of St. Anne of the Sunset, St. Brendan, St. Finn Barr, St. Gabriel, St. Stephen, Church of the
Epiphany, Visitacion, Corpus Christi, Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Elizabeth and St. Paul of the Shipwreck, for conducting a
very successful and Spirit-filled Lenten retreat for their catechists. We thank the Church of Epiphany for hosting the
event; and all the Pastors of deaneries 1 & 2 for their support.

Blest Are We Faith in Action is a new pro-gram for your parish-
es.
Each grade level features cover art that exem-plifies a story from Scripture, highlighting that grade level’s theme.
Visually appealing and theologically sound with an enhanced design, Blest Are We Faith in Ac-tion engages today’s learner on their formative journey.
The ever-changing developmental needs and aptitudes of young people are met with these key features:
Faith in Action pages for each chapter, estab-lishing a strong connection to Catholic Social Teaching
Redesigned Take Home pages, supporting fam-ilies in the faith formation of their children
Increased focus on children with special learn-ing needs, addressing practical ways to adapt lessons
eBooks, music, web support, and eAssessment resources, engaging young learners through digital integration
Blest Are We Faith in Action supports you in teaching and developing digital disciples.
Students will enjoy interactive connections with their textbooks, while teachers will find a variety of useful content for helping students on their formative journey of faith.
Promotional short videos start at: https://vimeo.com/207300138
What are we to do?
By devoting more time to prayer, we enable our hearts to
root out our secret lies and forms of self-deception, and then to find the consolation God of-fers. He is our Father and he wants us to live life well.
Almsgiving sets us free from greed and helps us to regard our neighbor as a brother or sister. What I possess is never mine alone. How I would like alms-giving to become a genuine style of life for each of us! How I would like us, as Christians, to follow the example of the Apostles and see in the sharing of our possessions a tangible witness of the commun-ion that is ours in the Church! For this reason, I echo Saint Paul’s exhortation to the Corinthians to take up a collection for the community of Jerusalem as something from which they themselves would benefit (cf. 2 Cor 8:10). This is all the more fitting during the Lenten season, when many groups take up collections to assist Churches and peoples in need. Yet I would also hope that, even in our daily encounters with those who beg for our assistance, we would see such requests as coming from God himself. When we give alms, we share in God’s prov-idential care for each of his children. If through me God helps someone today, will he not tomorrow pro-vide for my own needs? For no one is more gener-ous than God.
Fasting weakens our tendency to violence; it disarms us and becomes an important opportunity for growth. On the one hand, it allows us to experience what the destitute and the starving have to endure. On the other hand, it expresses our own spiritual hunger and thirst for life in God. Fasting wakes us up. It makes us more attentive to God and our neighbor. It revives our desire to obey God, who alone is capable of satisfying our hunger.
I would also like my invi-tation to extend beyond the bounds of the Catho-lic Church, and to reach all of you, men and wom-en of good will, who are open to hearing God’s voice. Perhaps, like our-selves, you are disturbed by the spread of iniquity in the world, you are concerned about the chill that paralyzes hearts and actions, and you see a weaken-ing in our sense of being members of the one hu-man family. Join us, then, in raising our plea to God, in fasting, and in offering whatever you can to our brothers and sisters in need!
