Update re Covid-19 Restrictions

North Beach Baptist Church is still seeking to respond wisely to Covid-19,

carefully maximizing opportunities to remain connected to each other

and to keep growing as a disciple of Jesus.

We believe that meeting together matters a lot and we are being sensible

in how we meet—for everyone's sake. As directed by the Govt. the church

is now open to groups of 100 people with 2sqm space per person. Every

person who enters the building is asked to sign in and out on the Contact

List, sanitize your hands and keep 1.5m social distance from others.

If you are not well please do not come.

Our Church

Church services will remain Virtual

Services as the limit of people is

not high enough yet for us to bring

services back.

We are encouraging all Growth

Groups to meet together in one or

two homes and return to ‘doing

church’ together.

If you are not part of a Growth

Group or your group isn't meeting

for church, you are very welcome

to join with Alan Raven’s Growth

Group at the church at 8.30am or

with Grant Hendry’s & Merv

Hodge’s Growth Groups at

10.30am or Brad Vigus’s Growth

Group at 6pm watching the Virtual

Service together.

Children will remain with their

families for the service. There will

be Kids Activity Packs at the back

of the Auditorium for kids to col-

lect when they arrive at church.

The creche will remain closed.

Romans Sermon

Open for Groups Our church is open for 100 people

now and we would love any groups

that have struggled to meet over the

last few months, to use the building.

Several Growth Groups are using the

building, Tuesday Morning prayer @

8am, Ignite Youth on Friday night,

Sea Stars Playgroup on Thursday

mornings and there is still room if

your group would like to meet at the

church too.

Lives transformed – Life with Peace Romans 14:13-23

After teaching on ‘disputable matters’ in Romans 14:1-12, Paul presents the related, super important ‘stumbling block principle’.

We are not free to trip up other believers (14:13–15).

We are either stepping stones or stumbling blocks.

We are to lay down our liberty to build up others, rather than walking around quoting proof texts to justify what we believe and do, know-ing that others are being hurt by our words and actions.

We are not to harm our testimony by what we are free to do (14:16–18).

Often the world has a wrong perspective on what it means to be a Christian, but many times our liberty can harm our ability to tell the world about Jesus.

Build up believers (14:19–23).

When we play fast and loose with another person’s conscience and en-courage them to act against their conscience, we are nurturing a hardness of heart and faithlessness that can, if it is not checked with repentance, lead to ruin and destruction for us all.

Two ‘diagnostic questions’

(questions that help us identify and engage with what is happening in our hearts).

Post Covid, will you resume church attendance in a way that helps or hinders the faith of others?

You accurately know that going to church doesn’t make you a Chris-tian. From that position of theological correctness, will you enter into a pattern of spasmodic church attendance and if so, will your example teach weaker Christians and those on a journey toward faith in Christ, that church attendance is a great idea only when there is nothing else to do?

Do you have a critical spirit?

When our pattern is to tear down and not build up, even when we are technically correct in what we criticise, is that example terrible for our own spiritual health and will the weaker believers that we dis-courage, turn to the pathway of destruction, as a result of our criti-cisms?

May we get in so close to those around us with a

weaker faith, that we lovingly do everything we possibly

can except completely agree with them if they’re wrong!

Let’s prayerfully, steadily and earnestly grow as people who build up others in Christ, rather than cause them to stumble.

Text questions on this passage or anything to do with

faith to 0468 361 777 by Tuesday 1.00pm, for a video

answer linked in E-Waves on Wednesday
