• This is my 24th teaching year at Jenks
• This is my 37 year at JPS.
In this class the students will learn to:
•Keyboard by touch
•Prepare different types reports
•One page report
•Multi-page report
•Type different types of letters
The first quarter we will:concentrate on keyboarding skills using MicroType Mac.
Advantages of this program:it requires students to reach a level of proficiency before going on and gives adequate practice.
Grading on MicroType Mac
Your grade will be based on how many words per minute you type.
Every lesson will be given a grade.
Lessons 1-8 are based on 20 wpm. (see charts posted in room)
Lessons 9-18 are based on 30 wpm. (see charts posted in room)
Any lessons not up to the required wpm with minimal errors willBe deleted and you will have to redo them.
Any lessons not completed by the end of 1st quarter (October 14th) will become 0’s if they are not completed by December 1st.
Second quarter we will:
•work on typing reports and letters.
A major project for the second quarter is the Research Paper

What is W.O.W
•W.O.W. stands for World Of Work
• In this class the students work in groups as companies to complete projects.
• Each student completes EVERY project. Sometimes the projects are parts of a whole, sometimes the company will select which person’s project is to be used. Each student’s work is graded individually.
In this class the students will be introduced to:

•Spreadsheets (MS Excel)

3. No one talks while I am talking
4. No food, gum or drinks
Homework Requirements
• All work should be completed in the classroom• On Fridays, no new assignments
are given so that students may get caught up on any incomplete work.
Grading• One fourth (1/4) of the student’s grade
will be the group grade–Possible other projects for extra credit
• Three fourths (3/4)of the student’s grade will be individual grades
• Final will count as 10% of the semester grade
