Who is Mrs. Long?

• Landscape Designer for past 13 years

• Grew up in SC on a 100 year old peanut farm with my extended family

• 3rd generation Clemson agriculture graduate

Mrs. Long’s Rules and Expectations

Rules• RESPECT! Yourself,

your classmates and your teacher.

• Do not leave your seat without permission.

• Raise your hand to be called on.

• Come to class on time and prepared with the class materials.

• Put things away after we use them.

Reminders• Cell phones must remain

off and out of site unless instructed to use in class activities.

• Do not eat food or chew gum unless you have been given permission. Water is allowed if in a closed container.

• Attend to personal and all grooming needs before and after coming to class.

• Mrs. Long’s desk if off limits!

Greenhouse Rules• 1. Students are not allowed in the greenhouse unsupervised unless

authorized by Mrs. Long. Report any problems or concerns to her immediately!

• 2. Wear appropriate clothing for the greenhouse. You may get wet or dirty. It is hot in the greenhouse at all times.; therefore you should

wear clothing to stay cool. No open-toed shoes, sandals or flip flops. Wearing the wrong clothes will not get you out of working; you

will receive a ZERO for the daily grade if your clothing prevents you from participating.

If you feel the need to leave specific clothing in the classroom to wear in the greenhouse , you may leave them in a plastic zippered bag with your name on them in Mrs. Long’s cabinet..

• 3. ABSOLUTELY NO HORSEPLAY in the greenhouse!• 4. Be careful using tools. Some may be sharp and other may be

harmful .Use safety knowledge and precaution. If you don’t know how to use something, ask. Make sure that all tools are put away prior to leaving the

greenhouse, unless otherwise instructed.

Greenhouse Rules cont.• 5. All book bags will stay in the classroom or outside of the

greenhouse to maximize the working space.• 6. Keep the watering hose off the floor. This will help prevent the

spread of diseases.• 7. ALWAYS TURN OFF THE WATER when leaving the greenhouse!• 8.Food is not allowed in the greenhouse. Drinks (water only with a

screw lid) are allowed. Do not eat anything (including plants) in the greenhouse,

because of chemicals• 9. Do NOT sit or stand on any of the tables while working in the

greenhouse.• 10. Make sure ALL plant materials are properly labeled.• 11. Take care of you own plants and projects. You are in charge of

watering and other care during the school week. Check them often.• 12. Do NOT remove any plant materials from the greenhouse without

approval.• 13. Please keep all greenhouse doors closed / locked at all times

unless working inside.
