HELLO EVERYONE
DC Stoddert is committed to providing positive sport and life experiences to all of our players. We value being part of a community that focuses on developing the student-athlete and fostering love of the beautiful game of soccer.
We ensure the use of the best practices that acknowledge, utilize, and mirror what the top clubs nationally and internationally are doing with the youngsters. This approach is reflected in our training methods and leadership by providing optimal environments for our athletes to develop and grow on and off the field.
Our player-first philosophy focuses on improving players’ experience in all aspects of the game (technical, tactical, physical, and psychological). We use the latest methods of coaching tools and cutting-edge curriculum to make sure that we provide age-appropriate training. We understand that we must effectively address each stage of player development, from the foundation stage all the way to when they graduate from high school to move on to play at college and beyond.
Our goal is to build a club that both promotes and lives by core values, such as appreciating and fostering: high work ethic, integrity, respect, accountability, responsibility, humility, and a growth mindset. We look forward to helping engrain these characteristics in players, which will serve them well beyond the soccer fields.
We strive to build athletes for life. Our long-term vision is for players to reach whatever goals they have, and make sure that the love for soccer and active life-style last far beyond their soccer playing years.

MISSION STATEMENT DC Stoddert Soccer is a non-profit organization offering varying levels of soccer education and competition. Our mission is to provide a positive, fun, and developmentally appropriate soccer experience and to promote a love of soccer for youth in the Washington, DC area. DC Stoddert Soccer promotes sportsmanship, fair play, community building, and volunteerism among its members.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES - All of our decisions are based on the best interests of our players- All of our actions promote respect, sportsmanship, and fair play- We build an inclusive and diverse community- We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards
HISTORYDC Stoddert Soccer was founded in 1977 to encourage the playing of soccer among Washington-area youngsters. The club initially consisted of 60 children learning together in small groups at Stoddert Elementary School in the Glover Park neighborhood, from which the club takes its name. Since then, DC Stoddert Soccer has expanded and become the city’s largest independent youth sports program. Various soccer enrichment programs are offered for children during the fall, winter, and spring seasons, and typically serve upwards of 6,000 players, 9,000 parents, 400 teams, and 900 volunteers. In addition to organized leagues, DC Stoddert Soccer also offers a variety of clinics for players, referee training, and coaching courses.
FUTUREDC Stoddert Soccer is passionate about improving the lives of our members. Through thoughtful planning and organization, we will offer an opportunity for all student-athletes to be successful in the classroom and on the pitch as we ready them for the next phase in their life. Be it moving schools to going to trial for a pro club we will provide the support and avenue which driven and committed players can follow. Our pledge is to think about the student-athletes first and push their best interests to the front of the queue. Through this dedication to youth we aim to unite communities throughout Washington, DC to create a common love and respect for each other and the beautiful game.

WHAT IS DC STODDERT TRAVEL SOCCER? DC Stoddert Soccer’s Travel Program is an Academy-style structure that focuses on developing a spark and love for the beautiful game in youngest age groups before nurturing it through high-quality training and competition, allowing us to showcase our quality in the oldest age groups—allowing the player to grow and succeed in a safe, fun, and challenging environment in the classroom and on the pitch.
OUR TEAMS PLAY IN TWO LEAGUESOur teams play in the Club Champions League (CCL) and the National Capital Soccer League (NCSL). Games in these leagues are held in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. About half of the season are home games, played either at fields in the District of Columbia or at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown, MD.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT? The Travel Program is a 9 month, 3-season commitment—Fall, Winter, Spring—with a focus on individual and team development. Wins and losses are not our benchmark of success, but rather style of play, skill execution, and strength of character and personal development. We strive to create life long supporters of the game and club.
THE BIG PICTURE?As a soccer community, we hope to get to know one another on and off thefield building bonds and friendships that will enrich your life and soccer experience and create a positive atmosphere at games and practices for everyone. We strive to make our student-athletes better soccer players by giving them the tools and training they need to become technically adept, tactically sound, and ultimately excellent players in a supportive and fun environment.

The 2019-20 Season will continue our Goalkeeping program for players between the ages of U11 and U19. Goalkeepers will have access to experienced Professional Goalkeeping Instructors. Goalkeepers will have a third session in addition to their two team practices every week at no additional charge.
During these sessions-, the goalkeepers will work on many facets of the game from foundation handling to shot stopping, dealing with aerial balls, being the first point of attack, an outlet to release pressure in possession, and being a part of the team as the last line of defense. They will work on the technical, tactical, physical, and psychological conditioning as goalkeepers.
Keepers will learn to play the DC Stoddert way - operating as the first line of attack as well as the last line of defense; quick off their line to sweep up through balls and able to manipulate the ball as effectively with their hands as their feet whilst communicating and organizing the players in front of them.

DC Stoddert Soccer is committed to providing a high-quality Travel Program to its players and families, while mindful of the costs associated with Travel soccer. Our philosophy is to trim costs where possible, while not sacrificing the caliber of our professional coaches and competitive program. As a non-profit 503(c) organization, our fees are based on a cost-recovery model rather than on revenue generation. Moreover, our values as a club mean that we never want finances to prevent any interested player from participating, and as such each year approximately 8% of the program budget is set aside to provide financial assistance to those families where financial barriers exist. Costs to deliver the program include:
· Coaching salaries· League & State fees· Fields & equipment· Tournaments· Referees· Player & coach development· Financial assistance program· Operational staff· Administrative G & A
DC Stoddert Soccer is appreciative of the generosity of families who contribute volunteer time as team managers, sideline referees, and in so many other ways. We are grateful to our many members who make financial donations to the club in support of player development, fields, and scholarships. As we look to keep costs down, we welcome additional support to the Club – through volunteering, financial or material goods donations, or sponsoring one of our programs if you or someone you know is a business owner. Thank you in advance for your continued support to DC Stoddert Soccer.
