• Seven Principles of Responsive Classroom– based on developmental and social learning
theory• The social curriculum is as important as the academic
curriculum.
• How children learn is as important as what they learn.
• The greatest cognitive growth occurs through social interaction.

order to be successful academically and socially.
• Knowing the children we teach is as important as knowing the content we teach.
• Knowing the parents of the children we teach is as important as knowing the children.
• Teachers and administrators must model the social and academic skills which they wish to teach their students.

Sharing and Social Skills
• Students continue to bond and learn more social skills through a short daily activity. Some of these include: • A WHAT?, Who's Missing?, Coseeki, and
Pebble, Pebble to name a few.

• Students develop language skills and learn about the events of the day ahead by reading and discussing a daily message posted on a chart by their teacher.
