The Tearooms were established in 1903 and led straight onto the sunken gardens & walkways of the Grand Seafront. Around the late 1950’s the Tearooms were extensively modernised to include the ever increasingly popular Coca-Cola on the menu & Bovril took a side step. Mr Tommy Cooper, a true star of his time, was playing the Wellington Pier

Shows. He helped re-open the Tearooms, but not wanting to be too far away his dressing room was not actually on the Pier, but just next door where the amusements now are.
