Flu ClinicsThe annual flu vaccine season is upon us. This year we are holding flu clinics at Dinnington, Anston & Woodsetts surgeries.

We are inviting all patients over 65 and those who are under 65 and suffer from diabetes, heart disease, respiratory disease or other chronic illness. If you are a main carer you may also be eligible for the vaccination. Pregnant women - It is recommended that all pregnant women should have the flu vaccine, whatever stage of pregnancy they're in. The vaccine does not carry risks for either the mother or baby. Most children aged between 2 and 17 years, who are in the above mentioned at risk categories, will receive their flu protection by a nasal spray rather than an injection.

The clinics are being held at:Dinnington & Anston Surgery on: Woodsetts surgery on;Saturday 3rd & 10th October 2015 Wednesday 7th October 2015between 9.00am – 2.00pm Between 2.00pm – 5.30pm.

There will be some evening Flu Clinics available please contact your surgery for times and dates.All patients with the above categories should receive a letter inviting them to a clinic. If you do not receive a letter please contact the surgery.If you do not want the flu vaccination please contact the surgery so that we can offer the vaccination to someone else.All healthy children aged 2, 3 and 4 are eligible for the flu vaccination and will be invited to attended specific clinics at the surgery.

Shingles VaccinationFrom 1st September 2015,the shingles vaccine will be offered to people aged 70 and 78. You are eligible for the vaccine on the first day of September 2015 after you have turned 70 or 78 and remain so until 31st August 2016.

Also, if you was eligible for immunisation in the first two years of the programme but have not yet been vaccinated, you will still be eligible until your 80th birthday. This includes people aged 71 and 72 on 1st September 2015 and people aged 79.The aim of the vaccination programme is to reduce the incidence and severity of shingles disease in older people. Patient eligible for vaccine are being contacted by the surgery and invited into clinics.

Free NHS Health Check

Helping you prevent heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease.

NHS Health Checks are being offered to people aged between 40 and 74 years, who have not been diagnosed with any of the above conditions.

The check is to assess your risk of developing heart disease, stroke, kidney disease or diabetes. If there are any warning signs, then together we can do something about it.

If you would like to take advantage of this service please book an appointment with one of our Health care Assistants for a ‘NHS Health Check’.

We are encouraging all patients within this group to take advantage

of this service. By taking early action, you can improve your health

and prevent the onset of those conditions.

New Phone SystemAs a result of patient feedback we have now upgraded our phone systems. Patients will be given a range of options in order to better direct their enquiry. There is also a queuing system so at busy times you will be informed of your place in the queue.Calls will be recorded for training and security purposesAll the telephone numbers remain the same
