Foreign Language is not required for graduation, but it is required for the Bright Futures Scholarship & admission into 4 year colleges / universities
Accelerated Classes, Senior Privileges, and On Campus/Off Campus courses
● The State of Florida expects all high school students to graduate with at least oneaccelerated opportunity.
○ We provide one opportunity per year for every student in grades 9-12.● What does Accelerated Opportunity mean?
○ Advanced Placement (AP) class (must pass the AP exam in order for the state torecognize as accelerated)
○ Dual Enrollment (DE) class (passed)○ Successfully earned and Industry Certification (IC)
● Freshman Accelerated Class options:○ AP Human Geography○ Agriscience Foundations○ Digital Information Technology (DIT)
Senior Privileges● Some seniors request to have 1 or 2 periods off campus in their senior year. Students are
only permitted off-campus periods if they have met ALL graduation requirements includinghaving passed the FSA, Alg EOC, 17 or more credits earned, and have a 2.0 unweighted GPA.
● Additionally, in order to earn an off campus period, seniors must have already successfullycompleted an accelerated course by the end of their junior year.
● However***The WOHS guidance department formally and emphatically discourages ALLSeniors from taking any off campus periods.
● Seniors must have a 2.0 GPA and 17 credits in order to participate in Senior Activities.

● First- your student should communicate directly with theirteacher.
● Second, you would contact teacher directly. Teachers’email addresses are their [email protected]
● Third, if possible have your student attend a tutoringsession in that subject area.

Tutoring Opportunities● Student tutoring is offered for all students Tuesday
and Thursday in the Cafeteria from 2:30-3:30● Saturday School/Tutoring for the following

SchedulesSchedule Changes:
● Students will have the opportunity to change theirelective classes during the first week of school.An electronic form will be available to submittheir changes on the West Orange Home Pageand the Student Services Page. If there is space inthat class, then the change can be made.
● We do not change classes for lunch, specificperiods, or specific teachers.
● All Students will be scheduled into an AcceleratedCourse: Advanced Placement, Dual Enrollment(VC, UF, UCF), or a course that has an IndustryCertification Exam

Fall Schedule at a Glance● New Student/Freshman Laptop pick-up: August 1st and 2nd
● Warrior Welcome: Thursday, August 8th from 10:00-12:00Opportunity to meet teachers, tour campus, walk your schedule.
● September 12th at 6:30 pm- Freshman Parent/Student Night- will gointo further depth about graduation requirements, revisit information from today, and review how to read a transcript.
● Open House: Tuesday, October 1st, 6 pm- 8 pm
● Freshman Guidance Meeting scheduled for first week of October- your child will have a one-on-one meeting with their counselor to review their progress, goals, grad requirements, etc.
