Before we get started...
• Let's take a deep breath and try a mindfulness strategy
• 7-7-7 breathing strategy
• (30 seconds to 1 minute)• Slowly inhale for 7 seconds

• Then slowly exhale for 7 seconds
• WE KNOW EVERYONE IS A LITTLE STRESSED WITH VIRTUAL LEARNING SO TRY TO PATIENT WITH YOURSELF
Student Bell Schedule
• Traditionally, comprehensive high schools operate with a yearlong A/B schedule
• For school year 20-21, to accommodate health and physical-distancing requirements, schools will be using a 4x4 scheduling model.
• You will have 4 classes each term or semester.
• 0.5 credit classes are 9 weeks long and 1 credit classes are 18 weeks long.

How will student attendance be
recorded? Students are expected to sign into each class in
Canvas daily, and daily attendance will be recorded through
this action.
Students will be expected to log into
Canvas each school day at least once between 6
am and 11:59 pm. Students who do not log
in to Canvas will be recorded as absent for
the day.
Absences will be imported into Aspen
automatically overnight. There are no
additional steps required for school staff to ensure that absences
from Canvas import into Aspen.
Student should also attend live classes everyday but if they cannot, they can complete
the Version B assignment issued by the teacher in Canvas.

Email [email protected] if you are having log in issues
▪ Students can view their schedule by logging into aspen.dcps.dc.gov
▪ Please email [email protected] if you cannot get into Aspen (make sure to include your first and last name and the email to send the reset to)
▪ Check your inbox/spam folder for an email from Family Portal account for temp. password and instructions on how to create a new password.
▪ Schedules may be changed once there is a transcript analysis. Please be patient with us as this takes a long time, especially with the new scheduling model. Schedule changes will continue for the first two weeks of school. Students can complete a schedule change request if the issues have not been solved before the first day of school by using this link https://bit.ly/3lnfopg
▪ You may not get all the classes you requested given the conflicts with this new type of schedule.
▪ Complete all summer assignments which can be found on the school website and are due September 11 by 11:59 (Math, English & AP classes)
▪ Even if you are taking the class second semester, we recommend completing all summer assignments asap.
▪ Textbooks will not be distributed (everything will be in Canvas)
