As a humble beginning-towards empowerment of our society through technology to create a better

tomorrow, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Sagar Institute of Science Technology and

Research (SISTec) Ratibad campus conducted a 3-Days Short Term Training Programme (STTP)

on “Application Based Skills in Mechanical Engineering” on 14th, 15th & 16th September 2020.

This STTP was sponsored by Rajiv Gandhi Prodhyogiki Vishwavidyalaya Bhopal (RGPV) under

TEQIP-III.

This STTP provided an opportunity for the students to get awareness about the basic mechanical

skills which can be helpful to generate a greater number of job chances. Students able to know

the recent skills area in Mechanical Engineering which increase the job chances in current

scenario.

Day- 1 (14/09/2020)

The conference inaugural function was graced by Dr S. C. Choubey – Coordinator TEQIP-III,

RGPV Bhopal as Chief Guest, Dr Jyoti Deshmukh – Principal SISTec Ratibad and Keynote

Dr. Jyoti Deshmukh, Principal SISTec-R, welcomed the chief guest and participants. She briefly

discussed the backdrop against which the STTP had been organized. She extended his heartfelt

gratitude to all the Speakers and Participants

Chief Guest, Dr S. C. Choubey in his inaugural speech emphasized on the importance of recent

skills in engineering disciplines. He also quoted that updating in technologies should be able to

make the things easily adaptable and convenient for the use. During her speech he also elaborated

the importance of multiskilled knowledge is the current need of industries. He congratulated

SISTec-R for organizing such event.

Topic – Futuristics Innovation in Solar Energy

The concept of renewable energy was very well understood by the participants and will be

conveyed to the students in very proper manner. The participants are familiarized with the current

scenario of the renewable energy.

Mr. Narendra Thakre started his session with the very basic idea of solar cells and thoroughly

discussed PV cells as well as module, and its application with Grid and Off-grid mode. He also

discussed about the business plan and how anyone can start his own setup.

The expert explains the current scenario of renewable energy in India. Government plans to

improve the electricity generation through solar energy under Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar

Mission (JNNSM) by adopting Roof Top Solar Technology.

Topic- Industrial Automation – Basics of Robotics

The influence of Robots in industries and society has been increased rapidly. There are almost all

the areas in which we find the application of robotic technology and hence the robotic research

field is expanding. It was the endeavor of the students of mechanical Engineering to had theoretical

exposure on various types of Robots & Sensors.

Speaker Mr. Sudesh Morey explained the need and interest in the field of robotics. He explained

Basics of Robotics in details. During session he also discussed about recent advancements and

application of robots in industries and day to day life.

Topic- HVAC Design using REVIT MEP

The training program deals with HVAC system fundamentals and components, system design,

equipment erection, equipment maintenance and detail engineering of Central HVAC Systems including

Duct Air Systems.

Mr. Faial Khan in his session discuss on the different software’s used in duct designing of HVAC system.

He explains the participant about the application of REVIT software in duct designing.

Outcome of STTP:

Through this STTP a platform is made available to share the knowledge about recent skills of

mechanical engineering which helps students to decide the area of working. This STTP bring an

opportunity for the students to get awareness about the basic mechanical skills in Solar Energy,

Robotics and HVAC Design which can be helpful to generate a greater number of job chances.

The main Outcomes of STTP are:

The participants understand:

❖ Robotics fundamentals and its applications in automation.

❖ How to identify the different electrical and mechanical components used.

❖ Process of automated system in manufacturing unit.

❖ Aware about the different software used in piping design.

❖ Know about the piping components that form a part of this assembly are pipes, fittings,

flanges, valves, piping specials, bolts and gaskets.
