SBS PARENT ASSOCIATION Welcome to the SBS Parents Association (PA)! As a parent or guardian of a student at Blessed Sacrament, you are automatically a member of the PA. We are excited to meet you, and invite you to get involved in our vibrant community and make an impact!

As new members of the PA, we welcome your ideas, skills, talents and most importantly your time. We believe this commitment to the school will benefit your individual child and the overall Blessed Sacrament family. Your participation also gives you the opportunity to meet other parents/educators, have a voice in school programs and events, and make a lasting impact on our school. Our goal is to partner with the school’s administration in order to create a positive and stimulating learning environment for our children.

There are many ways to get involved, and a variety of volunteer opportunities to accommodate most schedules. The PA is structured as an organized set of committees, each with different goals and events to help enrich the school and community. You can serve in a leadership role as Co-Chair of a committee, participate as a committee member, volunteer at events, and/or serve as your child’s Class Parent. Many activities can even be done at home on your own time.

Fundraising by the Parent Association also provides necessary resources to continue improvements to our school and learning opportunities for our children. The PA runs two large fundraisers, the Kid-A-Thon (Fall) and Auction (Spring). We also have smaller fundraisers and fun social events throughout the year. You will be charged a one-time Parent Association Fee, which covers student and parent events, teacher appreciation and development as well as tutoring.

More information on the PA, including a full list of committees and events, can be found on the SBS website. Send us an email to introduce yourself ([email protected]), volunteer for a committee or event, or come to us with new ideas. We look forward to hearing from you!

FUNDRAISING AT SBSThe continued success and growth of School of the Blessed Sacrament is in large part thanks to the support and generosity of our community. As such, families are encouraged to make financial donations or solicit donations of funds, goods, or services that develop and enhance the future of the school.

Participation of each family is vital to the Blessed Sacrament community, and opportunities to support SBS include, but are not limited, to the following:

• Kid-a-Thon (page 14)• SBS Annual Auction (page 15)• Participation in FUNdraisers such as Comedy Night, SoulCycle, and other events designed to raise funds

and build community• Consider SBS in your end-of-year charitable gift• Corporate Matching Opportunities

The generosity of our parents and friends of SBS have made enhancements to our learning community possible. Past projects include:

• Lockers for Middle School• Rosalie MacWilliam Memorial Library• Rooftop Garden Spaces• New Gym Floor• Computer Lab• Security Desk

... and more!

KID-A-THON The Kid-A-Thon is the School of the Blessed Sacrament Parent Association’s Annual Fall Fitness and Fundraising event. At the Kid-A-Thon, SBS students enjoy a great morning of fitness and fun at a nearby park. Each class rotates through several fitness stations, such as baseball, lacrosse, martial arts, soccer and tennis, coached by Kid-A-Thon’s sponsors. SBS students also participate in fun activities, including potato sack races, relay races and tug-of-war. The Kid-A-Thon gives SBS students a chance to have fun playing outside with their classmates, while trying out new sports and activities.

The Kid-A-Thon is also the PA’s primary Fall Fundraising Event. In the same way participants in a typical walk-a-thon seek sponsors, SBS students seek the support of family and friends for their participation in this annual fitness event. Funds raised by the Kid-A-Thon truly make a difference for all SBS students! Funds raised are typically used to purchase new athletic equipment, enhance the physical education and recess programs as well as for capital improvements at SBS.

We also welcome the participation of Parent Volunteers to help organize and set-up the event plus run fitness stations. Parent Chaperones are also requested for each class to assist the students as they move from the school to the park.

The Kid-A-Thon is a great event to kick off the school year, get kids active outside, raise necessary funds and boost SBS school spirit!

To get involved, email [email protected].

SBS ANNUAL AUCTIONEach spring the School of the Blessed Sacrament PA holds an annual Auction. This fundraiser begins with an online auction and then concludes with a cocktail party and silent auction.

Proceeds from the Auction have gone towards capital improvement projects throughout the building. Thanks to previous years efforts the children are able to enjoy a new gym floor, renovated library space, a beautiful rooftop garden and other significant improvements to the school.

To make the Auction a success and create an enhanced space for our children, we need involvement from all SBS families.

You can help by:

• Soliciting donations. Parents are asked to solicit donations of new goods or services, valued at $75 (or more), per child. These items will be featured in the online and silent auctions.

• Finding sponsors. There are various levels of sponsorship for business to choose from. Their tax-free donation will enhance the education of over 400 children and reach an audience of over 700 people.

• Joining the Auction committee. Be a part of the team that organizes the Auction! You can help out with specific tasks or throughout the entire process. Committee members manage donations, update the Auction website, create design elements, organize the event and more. To get involved, email [email protected].

• Bidding online and attending the event!
