This Week in Grade 8ENGLISH
The new English unit willturn it’s attention to theconcept of Transformations.The specific focus will be onprotest songs and theirability to impact andtransform society.
SOCIAL STUDIES
Completing their MUNperformance task has beenthe focus this week andeveryone has done a fantasticjob participating in such agreat debate. Next week willbe a relaxing week with the
focus on Geography,specifically the map of theMiddle East. Upon returnfrom the holiday, the newunit will begin:Transformations. Specifically,it will look at revolutions -both historical and current -
and how governments havebeen transformed byrevolutions.
SCIENCE
Students have beenworking in groups on theirperformance task this week- looking at a systemdysfunction (disease) and
how it affects the workingof the human systems.Most classes havecompleted the project(many did a video) or willfinish and present onMonday. Just before thelong holiday, we willintroduce a new unit:Transformations. This unit
will investigate howmachines work and types of energy.
MATH
Students completed theirBasic Skills assessmenttoday and will continuewith the Geometry unitnext week. They shouldcontinue to learn andpractice their geometryvocabulary - polygons, lines,planes, angles. Next up will
be learning how to find themeasurement of angleswithin a triangle.
