Prepare to be swept away by the breathless romance and dazzling spectacle of Broadway’s triumphant, Tony® Award-winning hit musical An American in Paris as it comes to London with the original stars. We are delighted to invite you to join us for a special gala evening on Wednesday 8 March 2017 welcoming this brilliant production to London’s West End.

Jerry Mulligan is an American GI striving to make it as a painter in a city suddenly bursting with hope and possibility. Following a chance encounter with a beautiful young dancer named Lise, the streets of Paris become the backdrop to a sensuous, modern romance of art, friendship and love in the aftermath of war...

This stunning reimagining of the Oscar® winning film has been brought to you by the creative team responsible for many of The Royal Ballet’s recent successes including The Winter’s Tale and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland: choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and designer Bob Crowley. This beautiful musical stars Robert Fairchild and former First Artist of The Royal Ballet Leanne Cope and features many of George and Ira Gershwin’s most popular and timeless songs, including I Got Rhythm, ’S Wonderful and They Can’t Take That Away From Me, together with George Gershwin’s sublime compositions Concerto in F and An American in Paris.

This special fundraising gala evening of a preview performance of An American in Paris at the Dominion Theatre includes a pre-performance reception and post-performance dinner with members of the cast and artistic team, and guests from The Royal Ballet at the luxurious Bloomsbury Hotel nearby.

Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Royal Opera House Covent Garden Foundation, an organization that has nurtured both Christopher Wheeldon and Leanne Cope, also alumni of The Royal Ballet School. The Royal Opera House Covent Garden Foundation is the registered charity that supports every aspect of the Royal Opera House’s work: extraordinary performances, remarkable craftsmanship and inspiring learning and participation projects.
