I count myself privileged as President in the 30th Year of the Irish Association of Corporate Treasurers to welcome all of you to our 2017 annual conference in Croke Park.In the thirty years since the founding of the Association, the world has moved on at a rapid rate. We find ourselves in times of ever increasing disruption, upheaval and risk from the geo- political to the technological. Treasurers are increasingly positioned at the heart of strategic conversations focussed on the management of change and risk. In this environment, the role of the Association as conduit of ideas, discussions and networking has never been more important.

Today’s conference sees a change of venue to the magnificent Croke Park. It also sees a change in approach introducing new formats aimed at generating discussion and debate on a wide range of topics as well as affording ample time for networking.

So with that in mind, I encourage you all to be involved, be curious and be open to the opportunities of today’s conference where I hope you will find many new conversations begin.

EVENT SPEAKERS

DYMPNA DONNELLYTreasury Director, SAP Dympna is a former tax director with PwC. In industry, she worked with Business Objects moving on acquisition to SAP. In 2010, Dympna moved to treasury to help establish an Irish subsidiary to allow SAP to do internal financing in US Dollars. Heavily involved in acquisition financing, the Irish entity has raised $2.65bn on the US private placement market.

KEVIN DALYAssistant Treasurer, James Hardie Industries With 16 years’ experience in treasury, Kevin is Assistant Treasurer with James Hardie – a world leader in manufacturing fibre cement siding and backerboard. Prior to joining James Hardie in 2009, Kevin worked as Treasury Manager for McInerney Holdings and in risk management at G.E. Capital Finance. He holds a M.A. in Economics from University College Cork, Certified Diploma in Accounting & Finance from ACCA and AMCT Diploma in Treasury from the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT). Kevin is an IACT committee member.

ROBERT HARRINGTONTreasury Manager, Keelings Robert was Treasury Manager in Cartrawler before joining Keelings in 2016 and prior to that worked in a number of roles in Xerox’s European Treasury Centre. These roles in Xerox covered Accounting and Front Office (including three years as Manager with responsibility for Emerging Market Currency Risk Management). Apart from the current role with Keelings, Robert is currently serving on the committee of the IACT.

PATRICK FITZGERALDCo-Founder, Kontex Starting 15 years ago in anti-virus research, Patrick has had unique exposures to threats and hackers; and the evolution of their nefarious techniques. Now working for a cutting edge cyber security firm, Patrick brings his expertise and his experience to the forefront to protect customers from the, now ubiquitous, threats of hackers.

BEN BROAD Director Debt Capital Markets, Global Banking & Markets, HSBC Bank plc

PAT FALVEYThe Accidental Rebel Ireland’s most prolific adventurer, Pat was the first person in the world to complete the Seven Summits challenge, twice, by reaching the summit of Mount Everest from both the Tibetan & Nepalese sides. He has led over 150 high altitude climbs to the most inhospitable and inaccessible places on the planet. Skiing to the South Pole, traversing Greenland and leading the largest team across South Georgia, he has witnessed the ongoing destruction of the culture and traditions of over 32 indigenous tribes. His philosophy is that we are all ordinary; its what we do that makes us extraordinary.

GEORGE LEECurrent Affairs Correspondent, RTE A graduate LSE and UCD, George Lee has been an economist at the Central Bank, ESB, Riada Stockbrokers, the Sunday Business Post and at RTE where he was Economics Editor from 1995 until 2009 before becoming a TD for Dublin South. He returned to the broadcaster and is currently RTE’s Agriculture and Environment Correspondent.

STEFAN KUHNERTDeputy Head of the Unit – Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs, European Commission The Directorate-General for the Economic and Financial Affairs unit is responsible for the economic and policy surveillance of Ireland, Portugal and Denmark. Stefan has previously worked in the Commission‘s financial markets department and also at the German Central Bank. He holds a Masters degree in economics from Germany’s University of Hamburg.

MARK KIRKLANDGroup Treasurer, Constellium With responsibility for Constellium’s Financial Risk Management, Cash Management, Corporate Finance, Credit Management and Insurance since 2012, Mark was previously Group Treasurer & Head of Structured Finance at Bombardier Transportation, Switzerland. He was Head of Financial Risk and Cash Services with Philips Electronics, Netherlands and was 9 years with Merrill Lynch in derivative structuring, building derivative models and commodity sales. Dr. Kirkland received his PhD in Stochastic Simulation and has a Mathematics honors degree.

COLM MORIARTYHead of Business Incubation, ESB Group Colm is responsible for growing new start-up businesses in ESB’s Innovation directorate. ESB’s incubator is hosted in Dogpatch Labs in the IFSC – a community of Irish and International tech start-ups. An IACT past President, Colm recently worked in ESB treasury, with responsibility for managing ESB Group’s FX interest risk & energy trading risks.

CORMAC MURPHYHead of Group Office for Ireland, European Investment Bank Cormac was previously Head of Divison for Infrastructure New Products and Special Transactions in EIB, with responsibility for new infrastructure product development including EIB’s subordinated/mezzanine debt activity. Having previously worked in financial services and corporate treasury in Luxembourg, the UK and Ireland, he joined EIB in 1994 from EDC – the national export credit agency of Canada. Cormac holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics from Trinity Colelge Dublin and UCD.

RICHARD MARTINManaging Director, Payments & Cash Management, Barclays Bank plc Richard is responsible for driving the commercial performance of the Barclays product range globally to meet customer needs. He was previously Global Head of Product Management, Payments & Cash Management, at ABN AMRO with responsibility for European Cash Management development during the Euro launch. He started his career at HSBC where he played a leading role in the creation of their Payments Transmission Services Division.

He was promoted to Investments & Liquidity Manager in 2003 and Senior Manager in 2010. A regular Treasury events panelist, Lorcan is currently the IACT President and represents the IACT at the EACT.

LISA MORIARTYSenior Treasury Manager, ICON plc Lisa has over 16 years treasury experience in both the banking and corporate sectors. She joined ICON plc as Treasury Manager in 2008 which was a treasury start up role which has evolved over the years. Prior to joining ICON plc, Lisa spent 3 years in Johnson & Johnson European Treasury Centre, as Investment Analyst, responsible for investment portfolio management. She started out her treasury career in banking. Lisa has completed the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) exams & holds a MSc in Investment & Treasury awarded by Dublin City University and is an IACT committee member.
