Webgate400 is an innovative development system that modernizes your RPG software applications and makes Windows and Internet native on the IBM Power System platform. BASIC WEBGATE400 CONVERSIONModernizing your software application starts with a simple basic conversion of programs and related display fi les, which automati-cally recognize function keys (1) and subfi le options (2), inserting them into Windows command bars, which can be repositioned by the user. Fields with several values and which have a value associ-ated with them are also automatically translated into "combo boxes". Utilities are made available among the automatic conversion func-tions such as a calendar (3) for date fi elds and a calculator (4) for numeric fi elds.Webgate400 automatically converts primary graphical elements (such as buttons, choice, cntfl d, etc.) managed with IBM native key-words.

Subfi le transformation into tablesIn the basic conversion process the subfi le is also modernized and is transformed into a table thus enabling better use and complete customization of video information. Column headings are automatically recognized. It is also possible to push column headings and/or set multi-headings. When there are drop tables, the additional lines are added to the fi rst: there is also an option to keep the drop itself.

After conversion the subfi les have fea-tures to sort / fi t / move column, hide col-umn (and reset when necessary), insert column (the data is taken through an SQL or by inserting a formula), data fi lter (5), creating data hierarchy with the abil-ity to insert calculation tools (sum, div, etc.) (6), export the entire subfi le or sin-gle columns and/or lines into Excel (7). Everything can be saved by information system, language, group or user.

Graphical objects, images and links are implement-ed using hidden fi elds valorized based on Webgate400 proprietary syntax (like xml).

• IMAGES (1): by specifying the path and name, images appear in the screenshot according to the coordinates set.

• DIAGRAMS (2): can be created using a special Webgate400 API.

• LINKS (3): hyperlinks can be inserted making it possible to link documents with various formats, set URLs and e-mail addresses (which automatically open the e-mail client), go to special directo-ries, launch Power System programs, execute SQL instructions and automatically show the result.

• TABS (4): thanks to the use of tabs it is possible to view additional data in every screenshot. The information contained in TABS are retrieved directly from the information system database or, alter-natively, by using selections generated by FastQuery. It is also possible to partialize video data using current fi elds as fi lters.

Project confi guration: Webgate400 makes it possible to defi ne many "projects" (several applications, versions, individual modules, etc.). Confi guration con-sists of defi ning the libraries con-taining sources, objects and rules to automatically recognize options, function keys and fi xed elements in the screenshot. A special function in the application is used only once to perform this action.In operation: Traditional PDM functions are used for editing code to change video formats and programs without ad-ditional actions. Add-ons for the graphical version are included di-rectly in the source programs and do not need to be retrieved for changes. For compiling operations, instead of using the PDM "14" op-tion (compile), the "WG" option is executed, which is defi ned auto-matically when the product is in-stalled.

ICONS, ICON BUTTONS, BUTTON IMAGES, HIERAR-CHIES, COMBO LISTSWith Webgate400 graphical objects are implemented using the TEXT associated with a specifi c fi eld of the DSPF, or through hidden fi elds valorized based on Webgate400 proprietary syntax (like xml).• ICONS (1): these graphically transform database information.

ICON BUTTON: with a simple click it is possible to enable options and/or function keys.

• IMAGE BUTTONS (2): these are "enabled" images that with a simple click transmit parameters to the the program to execute. It is also possible to defi ne images that act as function keys.

• HIERARCHIES (3): this feature makes it possible to aggregate data in subfi les and add any mathematical functions such as sum, div, count, etc.

• COMBO LIST (4): this makes it possible to view possible fi eld val-ues with their description and any icons. The list of values can be set in the the program in static mode or by executing an SQL instruction.

• SEARCH (5): it is possible to launch a search by right-clicking the mouse and optionally also by associating it with a function key. It is also possible to simulate pressing a key.

In Webgate400 there are also LOB FIELDS, which make it possible to transform a normal video fi eld in free input with formatting tools and with the ability to add images.

YOUR APPLICATION FROM TRANSACTIONAL TO NAVIGABLE Modernizing your applications also con-cerns transforming use from transaction-al to navigable. This process is possible thanks to the COMMAND SERVICE fea-ture, which enables you to "anchor" na-tive AS/400 programs, SQL instructions (showing the result) and PC executables to all application fi elds according to the whole or partial name of the fi eld itself and its properties. In all modes it is pos-sible to send static and/or dynamic pa-rameters (fi elds present in the screen-shot itself). For instance, through the COMMAND SERVICE, it is possible to retrieve an order query program of a cer-tain article where the code is contained in a video fi eld.COMMAND SERVICES are divided into:• MORE INFO: execute the command

Database Link makes native integration possible between data in the information system and any type of document and fi le directly in the active fi elds of data mangement applications. With Webgate400 Database Link it is possible to attach documents, images, graphics and any fi le extension. It is also possible to generate new docu-ments, use company templates, manage different editing levels for each document and authorize system users to read or modify at-tachments. When new documents are generated it is also possible to merge data directly from the DB2/400 into a single Word form through different data sources, including SQL instructions.

WEBGATE400 DOCUMENT MANAGEMENTExcellent document management is at the base of effi cient and fast company operations. Database Link simplifi es and optimizes this process. It enables company documents to be managed by type, business unit, etc. and makes it possible to associate creation and view to specifi c company functions or user groups. Identifi cation of types and their properties can be entirely confi gured by the user. It is also possible to associate a specifi c save/archive path to each document class to facilitate search features and to guarantee the right backup management policies.

MULTILEVEL DOCUMENT EDITINGThe need to update company documents, which is often performed daily and by several different users, makes their management a complex activity. Not with Database Link: documents attached to active Webgate400 fi elds can be managed by editing level. In addi-tion, all versions edited over time are stored together with specifi c information such as date, time and the user that made the changes, thus making retrieval simple and immediate. It is also possible to customize viewing of archived documents for each user (total or only the last change).

COMPANY TEMPLATESWhen a new document is created, Database Link makes it possible to set up one or more company templates for adhering to internal and external company image policies. Company templates can also be linked to document class in order to ensure standard styles. Da-tabase Link is perfectly integrated with Offi ce and enables you to set up templates for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OpenOffi ce, Lotus solutions, etc.

DOCUMENT AUTHORIZATION PROCESSDatabase Link gives you the possibility to create different user levels and assign authorization levels for viewing and/or modifying and de-leting attached documents. Thus, when accessing Webgate400 it is possible to assign to users the role of authorizer/authorized to view and/or modify/delete.

ARCHIVING FROM EXTERNAL SOURCESIn document mangement it is possible to archive:• directly from a scanner (Twain standard);• printouts produced by management programs (stored in .pdf);• any fi le on the network or PC.

SENDING DOCUMENTS BY EMAILDocuments archived with Database Link can be sent using email applications. Sending can be made by single document through a special feature that uses the company directory and/or a sending list. A send log is generated automatically which is archived and can be consulted at any time thus creating a sending history.

DOCUMENT SEARCHSearching for documents attached to each active fi eld is made easy thanks to the "attachment verifi cation" feature present in every video table and accessed by right-clicking. A paperclip on the lefthand side of the table and the color red clearly show the documents found thus making day-to-day user operations easy.

ACROBAT READER FORMATHaving an Acrobat server in the Webgate400 environment makes it possible to automatically convert attached documents into .pdf, making them unchangeable by third parties and easily sendable by email.

FASTQUERY

FastQuery is the Webgate400 tool that revolutionalizes the use and

accessibility to information archived in different databases in the

company information system. It makes it possible to retrieve infor-

mation represented in dynamic statements and uses the SOA archi-

tecture to automatically integrate it in any software solution modern-

ized by Webgate400. FastQuery can also be used to analyze, query

and export into Excel any database in DB2/400 format.

DYNAMIC STATEMENTSFastQuery follows the information provided during confi guration

and generates dynamic statements that acquire the settings of

Webgate400 for innovative features such as Command Service for

solution navigation and Database Link to create and archive docu-

ments to attach to management information. FastQuery dynamic

statements can also be called up inside TABS confi gured in the We-

bgate400 environment.

EXPORTING DATA INTO EXCELWith a right-click FastQuery enables you to automatically export se-

lected rows and columns, also separate, into Excel.

DATA MAINTENANCEFastQuery provides an important data maintenance feature in the

FastQuery dynamic statement through reserved access for each

fi eld and profi le (user/group/language/company).

CROSS FIELDSFastQuery makes it possible to reroute query results onto a DB2/400

fi le and use it to generate an additional query and can execute the

previous query again with up to a total of 100 queries that can be

recalled in cascade. It is also possible to launch a program prepared

by the user after creating the fi le itself.

The code automatically generated by FastQuery can be modifi ed

manually and saved so that the new code is executed during the

subsequent execution.

With FastQuery it is also possible to generate a cross-fi eld query

thus making it possible to invert rows with columns.

Thanks to Navigate400, screenshots of any software solution mod-

ernized by Webgate400 are enriched with a new panel that can be

ter that refreshes automatically and shows the result of the func-

AUTHORISATION FLOWS, SIGNATURE LOG AND DIGITAL SIGNATURE

A digital signature has features beyond the simple signing of a text and gives a signature on a computerised document a legal value. A digital signature, or electronically qualified signature, is the end result of a complex, mathematical algorithm which enables a computerised document to be signed with the same validity as an autographed signature and represents a strong authentication system, since it is based on the use of a digital certificate stored on a hardware device.

The AUTHORISATION FLOWS, SIGNATURE LOG AND DIGI-TAL SIGNATURE module solves all very important organisatio-nal and operational problems within SMEs relating to the con-trol, authorisation and signing phase of documents deriving from company processes. With the fundamental prerequisite of the Database Link module it becomes immediately usable and ready for use.More than an individual software module, AUTHORISATION FLOWS, SIGNATURE LOG AND DIGITAL SIGNATURE is a sof-tware suite that enables the simple and reliable management not only of aspects linked to electronic authentication of documents, but also job descriptions and document authorisation cycles, in such a way as to also better organise signature logs for indivi-dual users/departments.

CONFIGURING DEVICESIt is possible to confi gure information re-lating to a smart card and any necessary information for an individual user to start the digital signature of documents pro-cess, such as: type of signature device, certifi cates and/or local keys, time stam-ps, repository path for signed documents and type of signed fi le format.

AUTHORISATION FLOWS, SIGNATU-RE LOG AND DIGITAL SIGNATURE can use the following signature me-thods: encrypted smart cards compatible with the standard PKCS11; encrypted USB tokens compatible with the stan-dard PKCS11; certifi cates and priva-te keys stored in CER/CRT/PEM fi les; certifi cates and keys stored in PFX/P12 (PKCS12) fi les.

TASKSAn individual user can have up to a maximum of fi ve tasks assigned. It is also possible to identify his deputy and the time axis for the de-puty (from date/to date). The identifi cation of the multiple company tasks combined with the document classes enables the various au-thorisation phases to be planned, which are necessary to correctly organise the signature log.

AUTHORISATION PHASESFor each document class, it is possible to confi gure one or more authorisation/signature phases (which overall are called the autho-risation cycle) which form a sequence and where the various tasks proposed for the digital signature on documents are identifi ed. It is possible to identify the following for each phase: the code and sub-code for the phase, the description of the signature approval type and the task code requiring the signature (up to a maximum of three alternatives). It is also possible, directly from the Database Link mo-dule, to display, edit, copy and delete the authorisation phases of individual documents.

SIGNATURE LOGThe Signature Log is an important and leading component of the AU-THORISATION FLOWS, SIGNATURE LOG AND DIGITAL SIGNA-TURE module, which is automatically powered by the generation of each new manual and/or automatic document. The signature log for an individual user displays all the documents signed according to various tasks, available for selection from a specifi c dashboard, to run the individual or mass signature process. It is possible, during the signature phase, to partially block the di-splay of documents to sign through scanning, also by description of the attachment or by description of the authorisation phase. It is also possible to partially display documents by selecting the status of the signature which can be: originals, signed, excluded from signature … or by indicating the timeframe (from date/to date). The documents selected and displayed on the log can be signed in mass modality or individually.

TIME STAMPSTime stamps guarantee a certain date and time for computerised documents at time of signing. Time stamps can be purchased on-line and subsequently affi xed with a specifi c application within the AUTHORISATION FLOWS, SIGNATURE LOG AND DIGITAL SI-GNATURE module.

DIGITAL SIGNATUREAUTHORISATION FLOWS, SIGNATURE LOG AND DIGITAL SIGNATURE enables the signing and time stamping of all electronic documents. In particular, it enables:

• digital signing of individual documents/fi les in standard, international format with P7M extension and in Adobe PDF format which contains the digital signature as an integral part of the original document. The Adobe PDF do-cuments generated can therefore be directly verifi ed using a standard PDF reader (for example Adobe Reader, version 8.0), without having to install additional software licences (proprietary P7M decoders);

• signing of folders of documents in atomic mode;

• time stamping of individual documents;

• signing and time stamping in atomic mode of individual documents;

• affi xing multiple signatures and time stamps to the same document;

• verifying signatures and time stamps within a document.

HOW DOES A DIGITAL SIGNATURE WORK?The Digital Signature process is based on asymmetric encryption: each owner has a pair of keys, one of which is private – secret and stored on a Smart Card and protected by an access code (PIN) – while the other is public – stored and published by the Certifi cation Authority - which is used for signature verifi cation. The two keys are linked in a unique manner, yet it is impossible to arrive to the private key from the public one. System functioning is guaranteed by the presence of the reliable third party – the Certifying Authority – that ensures the unique association between the public key to use for verifi cation and the ow-ner of the corresponding private key. This association is based on the issuing of a digital certifi cate, which only occurs after the identifi cation and exact registration of the applicant. Therefore, to obtain a digital signature you have to contact the Accredited Certifi ers: public and pri-vate bodies that have obtained authorisation to perform this activity.

ELECTRONIC STORAGE

Electronic storage is the step following the electro-nic archiving of data (through the Database Link module) and offers considerable advantages, par-ticularly for companies producing large quantities of documentation subject to taxation which, by law, must be filed for many years.

Electronic storage is therefore a computerised pro-cedure, regulated by law, capable of guaranteeing the legal validity of a computerised document over time. Electronic storage produces, under certain conditions, the paper documents in the same elec-tronic documents and enables savings in terms of printing, storage and archiving.

Digital storage means, in short, replacing paper documents with the equivalent document in digital format which is blocked in format, content and time using a digital signature and time stamp. Applying electronic storage to company processes means paper documents are no longer issued (compute-risation); for documents already produced, digitali-sation (transformation from paper to digital format) takes place.

WEBGATE400 FORELECTRONIC STORAGE

Electronic storage is the Webgate400 suite module for computerised archive management which offers the possibility of generating appropriately organised contai-ners with multiple fi les in various formats and nature, capable of fully and conclusively representing each do-cument issued, received, sent or produced.The main functions are:

• multiple document selection functions;• total integration with the Database Link module;• automatic document cataloguing and categorisa-

tion;• fast, simple document search;• safe, confi dential information.

As with the entire Webgate400 suite, the use of the mo-dule not only complies with standards in force, but also supports corporate organisation: it enables the simple selection and organisation of documents to generate optic volumes, without legal validity according to ne-cessity, and thereby generating autonomous document management tools to use over time.

A recent “Digital Document” study conducted by NetConsulting highlighted the general, and often hidden, costs of “traditional” documentation ma-nagement. Let’s have a look at some of them: each year a country like Italy prints around 115 million pa-ges, 19.5 million of which unused, generating a cost

of 287 million euro per year. In general, each paper document is reproduced 9 to 11 times, generating a cost of 18 euro per document. For document ar-chiving, a document is produced 20 times, while 3% of documents are archived incorrectly and the cost of recovering one of these is estimated at 120 euro.

CONFIGURING DOCUMENT CLASSESThe document classes within the Database Link module, if involved in the electronic storage process, are enriched with a new path whe-re “signed original” documents are deposited; the paths now availa-ble follow:

SIGNED ORIGINALS containing signed original documents only. The function of document storage directly locates in this position the fi les received in signed original format, as well as those mass sig-ned during the archiving batch creation phase. The signed original format is a copy of the original/editable document to be stored intact and safe from any subsequent changes, even accidental ones. The integrity of the original document is guaranteed by subjecting it to a digital signature process which crystallises its content.

PUBLIC where documents are placed that are consultable by third parties, other than the author, in read only mode. The form in which the document is published and made available normally takes pla-ce using a conversion process that sets the original/editable form in PDF format. Public form often clashes with the editable form, for example by issuing documents on the system that are already in PDF format; in this case the read only version is not even generated. This path is used by conversion functions for fi les and signatures pending approval.

EDITABLE ORIGINALS used for documents generated by the Data-base Link module in the original format of the document (for example .doc if generated by a text editor such as MS Word or .xls if genera-ted by a spreadsheet such as MS Excel).

CREATING A NEW VOLUMEConsists of opening a new position that defi nes the VOLUME con-tents in terms of document classes included (up to a maximum of three), period (document date interval – from date/to date), catego-risation fi elds (up to a maximum of three with upper and lower value identifi cation). Thanks to the categorisation function, it is possible to activate an indefi nite number of fi elds/keywords which will be introductory and support both the building of VOLUMES and their subsequent con-sultation. The topics (classes, dates, categorisations) are optional and com-plementary.

MAINTAINING VOLUMESVolume maintenance enables the identifi cation of information necessary for the logical content of the volume, based on an identifi cation code which is automatically attributed by the system:

The Electronic Storage Manager is responsible for correctly applying the law and the procedure; in par-ticular, he or she is responsible for time stamp certifi cation and the electronic signing of the stored computerised document, taking on responsibility for the process and individual acts. Furthermore he/she:

• defi nes the features and requi-rements of the storage system, based on the type of documents (analogue or computerised);

• organises the optical support content;

• manages safety and tracking procedures for the correct stora-ge and subsequent display of the stored document;

• archives and makes available, for each support, the description of the content of the set of docu-ments, the indication of the safe copies and the identifi cation de-tails of the storage manager or any appointed persons.

• Description of volume: describes the content (docu-ments/fi les) of the volume;

• Document/fi le inclusion environment:- document class: identifi cation code of documents

archived in Database Link module;- limit date: from date/to date for updates or issuing

selection is made - the source value - the target value;

- legal validity fl ag: sets the correct sequence of phases to follow for electronic storage, according to legal standards.

The documents selected according to the criteria set form the content of the volume to generate.

GENERATING VOLUMESThis function enables the tracking of documents/fi les

according to criteria set in the volume list and the vo-lume is generated.Further phases are possible after the volume genera-tion phase:

RESETSupplied volume cleaning function following resetting of building parameters.

VERIFYING DOCUMENT Verifi es the suitability for archiving of the volume docu-ments. In particular, it verifi es the validity of the signa-ture on the documents. Verifi cation can be performed for legal purposes or management requirements (the validity of the signature is checked based on a specifi c task). There is also an optional control on the continuity of the sequence of documents included in the range of values indicated in the fi rst categorisation fi eld indica-ted in the volume.

THE ADVANTAGES OF ELECTRONIC STORAGETo the advantages offered by traditional physical archiving, electronic manage-ment of documents, electronic acquisi-tion of date and specifi c Internet portal services that enable the recovery of space, resources and time dedicated to archive management, to lower related costs and having fast access to docu-ments, electronic storage adds the fol-lowing advantages: cost recovered from paper disposal, no need to purchase consumable materials, a net saving on stamp duty (for documents, accounting books, which require this).

With the Electronic storage module, Webgate Italia completes its range of built-in solutions, from paper to byte, to manage and develop a document base.

SIGNING DOCUMENTSThanks to the “Authorisation fl ows, signature log and digital signa-ture” module, with a specifi c function or a specifi c functional key it is possible to sign an individual document or all those corresponding to the selection made which are not yet signed or which contain formal errors. Optionally, the signature procedure requests specifi cation of a determined task/role for which the signature is provided.

PHYSICALLY CREATING THE VOLUME (COPY)The documents identifi ed from the volume list are copied/moved in the physical volume (IBM Power System ISF folder). The volume generated is completely self-suffi cient and can be burned on any device, support or USB key.

CLOSING VOLUMEThis runs the necessary processes to close the volume. A closure archive is also created which runs a subsequent verifi cation on the consistency of the volume, requests the digital signature of the volu-me and defi nes it in untouchable mode.

EXTRACTING THE VOLUME This function extracts the volume generated by the IBM Power System IFS folder and copies it locally by adding the necessary information in the directory to run the desired search and navigate the documents/fi les.

THE MAIN FEATURES OF PTF HANDLERDevelopment system side:• Open a new PTF: identify libraries that will contain the objects to

send.• Identify objects in the PTF: select objects contained in the librar-

ies, also different, and the IFS to insert in the PTF library to is-sue.

• View objects in the PTF.• Create PTF: create an object compressed in the IFS. Its name

is composed of the PTF code, its description and a suffi x. When the PTF is created it can also be executed again every time it is necessary to add or delete objects from the list.

• Send PTF: the object can be saved and sent by email with a sim-ple right-click.

PTF handler is the solution developed as part of the Webgate400 suite to streamline and simplify the PTF prepa-ration and installation procedures, which are usually delicate and diffi cult; thanks to PTF handler you can prepare and distribute the PTF of your software solutions to send to customers, who will then install them directly from the applet.

User side:• Authorization to install the PTF: the

PTF can be installed only by autho-rized users.

• PTF installation: for authorized us-ers, this is started up directly from the applet. The installation procedure in-cludes a backup phase that makes it possible to create a copy of the objects issued.

• Restart if the procedure is interrupted: if for any reason the procedure is inter-rupted before successfully completing the installation phase, it is still possible to start it again by re-executing the fi rst phase of installation (PTF physical in-stallation).
