FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
It’s time now we go through the Christmas Blues, and the weather isn’t helping. As I write these notes another snowstorm is in the forecast, it never ends. I ask you to please read my explanation of the future of St. Anthony’s, there is nothing to worry about we are going to be great and stronger than ever. We have a great parish here and will always have a great parish. How can we lose with St. Anthony on our side?
For the many parishioners who attended the Tuesday January 9th meeting here to discuss the future of St. Anthony’s, it was just to explain to the parishioners what it meant to be a Shrine this was only one option. As you have heard throughout the Archdiocese the last couple of years, because of the lack of priest there have been different phases of parishes who have been assigned to collaborate. Right now, St. Anthony’s has been categorized as undecided until June 2019, and I am here as your pastor until then to serve you, please God let my health hold out, so from now to then only God knows what will be. So please stop worrying over things that we don’t have to worry about. We will continue our mission here just as we do every day. Thank you for all your support.
Oops! There goes the bell my macaroni & meatballs
God Bless Fr. George

Holy Hour for Life
Deacon Joseph Belmonte will be presiding Our Holy Hour For Life on Tuesday January 23, 2018 from 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM as part of the Ardiocesan observance of the National Day of Prayer and Penancemarking the anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision legalizing abortion on demand. This Holy Hourwill be held throughout the Archdiocese to pray for safe travel and a successful pilgrimage to Washington DC for all those attending the annual March for Life. Led by Deacon Joe, we will pray together for those who have been wounded by abortion, for respect for the dignity of human life from conception to natural death, and that those who govern us may be guided by justice, truth, and a love for the gift of life. The Holy Hour for Life is organized by the Boston Deacons for Life in collaboration with the Pro Life Office of the Arcgdiocese of Boston. Please join us, all are welcome. Please all those who minister here at St. Anthony’s Eucharitic Ministers, Lectors, Ushers, Faith Formation Catachist, Greeters, Homebound Ministers, Parish Council, Finance Coumcil and Staff are highly recommended to attend.
“Jesus said, could you not stay awake one hour and pray”.

Generosity “Whoever is generous to the poor
lend to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed”
(Pro.19:17)
Both the Old Testament and the New Testament present generosity as the fundamental and essential to the life of God’s people. Generosity can come in many forms: time, talents, money etc.… I would like to share with you about generosity in terms of material wealth (money). The Holy Bible teaches that we should give or share with those who are in need. God will bless us when we are generous with those in need (Pro.19:17; 22:29; Lk.6:38). In the same way if we close our eyes to the poor, God will not listen to us when we cry to for help (Pro.21:13; 1Jn.3:17).
One of the important elements which kept early church vibrant was “sharing.” Mostly people came forward to share God’s blessings with others (Acts. 2:45, 4:32-35). When Jerusalem was in famine the neighboring community came forward to help according to their ability (Acts.11:29). I appreciate you all for your generous contribution for the growth and maintenance of our parish especially your generosity towards catholic appeal.
When we give or share we should have kingdom – centered heart. It means that we should have right attitude.
1. We store treasures in heaven (Mt.6:19-21)
2. We are able to participate in church activities vibrantly. (by Matthew Kelly).
3. We are able to feel God’s guidance in our lives.
4. We feel happiness within our hearts in spite of certain misfortunes.
5. Above all our faith becomes meaningful.
We should not give or share with self-centered heart. It will make us focus our attention on our own self. We are led by our selfishness. There is no place for God
Confirmation News“Some people worry receiving the sacrament
of the anointing of the sick "brings bad luck" and "the hearse will come next," the pope said. “This is not true!” The sacrament brings Jesus closer to those in need, strengthening their faith and hope. It "permits us to touch with our hands God's compassion for humanity" and bring God's healing presence to those who are suffering”. – Pope Francis
Often times when people think about whether they should call a priest to come to the bedside of someone seriously sick or suffering, there might be objections and concerns that it could frighten the person who is ill. Why? Because there's this idea that when someone is ill and the priest comes, after him, the hearse will come next. The superstition is not true. When the priest goes to the sick person, it is Jesus who comes to bring comfort, to give strength, to give hope and help, also to forgive sins and this is very beautiful. It is always beautiful knowing that in moments of pain and sickness we are not alone. The sacrament reminds us that nothing, not even evil and death, can ever separate us" from Christ and the saving power of His love. Confirmation program gives us the clear understanding of the sacraments and helps us enjoy God’s graces in their fullness.
January 21, 2018 is the “Third Sunday of the Ordinary Time”. On this Sunday, the Confirmation year I candidates will have a session on “Sacrament of the Sick” from 1.15 PM to 2.15 PM in the faith formation building. There will be no session for the second year Confirmation candidates. However, both first and second year Confirmation candidates are to attend any one of the weekend Masses and do the sign-up sheets kept in the vestibule.
If you have any questions or concerns please call me on my cell 781-244-9162 or email me at [email protected]
Thank you.Fr. Xavier

BASIC CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY
We have started a new program, namely “Basic Christian Community” (BCC) in our Parish. Basic Christian Community is the life style of early Christians. Few families gather at a home and they pray and reflect over the Word of God. It will enrich our lives and provide a good opportunity to pray for others. It will strengthen our relationship with one another. 3
