“I've had an interest in weightlifting from I was 14yrs old. Through one reason or another I never competed until six years ago. This was at the time of the beginning of the NIPF and Northern Ireland Powerlifting re-joining the GBPF. Since my first competition lifting in an equipped NIWLA comp I've been hooked. I love the buzz, the people and most of all the way of life.
My achievements to date are
-IPF classic Masters 1 overall world champion 2014
-GBPF Masters 1 120kg champion 2012/13/14/15/16
-GBPF Open/senior 120kg champion 2013
-GBPF Open/senior 120kg 2nd place 2014
-NIPF Masters1 120kg champion and over all best lifter 2011/12/14/15
-Commonwealth record holder deadlift and total
-GBPF Masters 1 record holder squat(302.5kg)/deadlift(330kg)/total(800kg)
-IPF classic Open world championships 2013 Suzdal/Russia 10th
-runner up All Ireland 'open' Championships 2015
And oh yes I'm also a British Powerlifting Divisional Referee.”

“I have been competing in the GBPF for nearly 5 years but I have been strength training for about 16 years.
So far I have only done unequipped powerlifting for which my best total is 385.5kg in the 63kg class. My best lifts are:
Squat: 130kg
Benchpress: 80kg
Deadlift: 175.5kg
My best results are winning the British Classic 63kg class in 2013 and 2014, placing 3rd in 2012 and placing 2nd in 2015.
I have also competed three times in the IPF World Classic, with my highest placing being 9th in the 63kg class in 2015.
I don't believe I am naturally strong, as I couldn't do a single press-up until I'd been strength-training for several months, and even squatting with no weight was tiring for me! But over the 16 years I've been training, I have slowly but surely become far stronger and I hope to get a bit stronger yet.”
