Today Celia came and spoke to me about designing my spread. As I haven’t yet got my pictures or text, she showed me how to create my spread using dummie text. We created my page and added 3 columns for learnings sake. We then made a text box and went to type, then down to ‘Fill with placeholder text’. This filled my columns with text, allowing me to visually see what it would look like if I put my article in it.

To make it look better and more professional, we changed the font size to pt 10, and the style to Calibri, then from Regular to Light. We also changed the spacing between the paragraphs to 3.

We then unticked the Hyphenate box to make the text look neater. We also changed the space between the lines to 14, and made the words in line. This made my text look very contemporary.

We then went up to Windows, and down to Info.

This allowed me to highlight the text to see how many words had been used. This is really useful for me at this stage of the project. Because it means, once I have my layout I can then base my written pieces on how many words I can fit in the space I have chosen.
