Activities-
· Freeze Dance: Dance to upbeat music (from any source) until
the music is paused or muted. Freeze in position until the music
starts again.
· Sing your favorite song from music class for a family member,
friend, or babysitter. Tell that person why you love it so much. Be
sure to use your Singing Voice!
· Practice keeping a steady beat while listening to any music.
Practice by clapping, stomping, patting, nodding your head, or
however you’d like!
· Practice using different voices! Sing a song we have learned
in music class, using your speaking voice, singing voice, silly
voice, whispering voice, cowboy voice, alien voice, turtle (slow)
voice, or any others you can think of!
· Find anything around your house (with a parent's permission)
that you can turn into a Percussion Instrument! Practice using Ta
and Ti-Ti to make a rhythmic song. Play it for your family!

Activities-
· Create an instrument from something around the house. Some
ideas include making a “trumpet” out of a paper towel roll, a drum
out of a coffee can, or a guitar out of a shoebox and rubber bands.
Be creative! Bring in instrument with packet.

· Listen to your favorite song, and list the instruments you
hear, as well as the families they belong to.
· A famous musician once said that the reason he loved the banjo
so much was because you can’t play a sad tune on it. Are there any
other instruments that you can think of that can only play happy,
uplifting music? If you can’t think of one, write about why you
think the banjo has that one special quality.
· What’s the first song you remember learning as a child? Who
taught it to you? Do you still remember the words and music?

Activities-
· Friedrich Nietzsche said “Without music, life would be a
mistake.” Do you agree or disagree? Please explain.
· Listen to your favorite song, and list the instruments you
hear, as well as the families they belong to.
· Write your own lyrics to a song about a friend or family
member. The song should have a chorus and two verses.
· Your music teacher has acquired a musical instrument that the
aborigines used in Australia called a didgeridoo. Only one student
is going to be allowed to learn the instrument. You want to be that
student. Write a persuasive letter to your teacher telling her why
you want to play the didgeridoo.
· Choose a specific establishment (shopping mall, law firm,
doctor’s office, sports stadium, fast food restaurant, fine dining
establishment) and imagine you were in charge of choosing the music
for it. Explain how music can affect one’s mood. Explain what type
of music you’ll use and why.
