Monday Challenge / Good and Poor Design
Introduction
In this presentation, I separately chose some general designs to
introduce good and poor design. And also explained why they were
good or poor in my mind. Moreover, I chose the best design within
good designs, which was the color. And I also chose the worst
design within poor designs, which was the outlet.
Process
At the beginning, I was considering what kind of design can be
defined as good or poor design. And one day when I was in waterloo
and going down to the underground services, I was staring at the
wall which has the map of the tubes. And one thing was just popped
in my mind, no matter which city’s tubes we will take, they all use
color to define different lines. It takes us so much convenience of
transport. Therefore, I listed color as my first good design
immediately.
Basing on that, I tried to find more similar designs as my good
designs, which were all about some general design. On the contrary,
I also found some general poor design, which were always around our
daily life. Then, I selected all of these information, and made my
presentation.
Reflection
During my preparing time, I gradually found that design was life
itself. We don’t need to specifically find what is the good design,
which might totally not present in our daily life at all. Instead,
the only thing that we need to do is observing. We are not finding
them, actually we are observing them. In my opinion, in this way
designer can much easier to design more practical products.
