Your Itinerary

Day 1 - Depart New Zealand. Arrive Denpasar. You will be met at the Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport and travel by bus to Inna Sindhu Beach Hotel & Resort in Sanur. A get together and a meet and greet over a meal and enjoy a good nights sleep.

Day 2 - This a day to relax after the flight and adjust to the Bali way of life. Also gives you a chance to fossick and explore about Sanur and it's environs , including the beautiful beach, the markets great little bars, restaurants the village and all the magic sights and sounds that is Sanur.

If you wish you can choose to head to the Sukawati Art and Street Market. Transport can be arranged for this trip to the market. Depending on numbers it could be the Coach or a mini van and private driver. Normally Made volunteers. This area is for the shoppers among us. You can't leave Bali without a bit of bartering under the belt and there is no better place than the Sukuwati Market. Pasar Seni Sukawati'. It is Bali's most

distinguished and long-standing market. It is where visitors can seek and purchase distinctively Balinese art items such as paintings and sculpted wooden figures, curios, clothing, handicrafts and traditional handmade products and is inexpensive and the complete shopping destination. Sometimes we have the extraordinary Lusi as the consummate shoppers assistant. She is worth her weight in gold in securing absolute bargains. There is a small fee to have Lusi assist the shopper, but she more than pays her way. Pure street theatre to watch her in action.

Day 3 - After breakfast we head out for a wonderful day.First Stop - We travel to the beautiful Gunung Kawi Sebatu Temple. Gunung Kawi Sebatu Temple is one of the least visited temple complexes on the island yet is one of the most beautiful and tranquil. Second Stop - A trip to the very spiritual Tirta Empul.Tirta Empul is one of the largest and busiest water temples in Indonesia. The temple was founded in 926 A.D. and is

dedicated to Vishnu, who is the Hindu God of water. The name of the temple actually means 'holy water spring' in Balinese. For over a thousand years, Balinese Hindu worshipers have been drawn to Pura Tirta Empul (Holy Water Temple), whose sacred springs are said to have been created by The God Indra and possess curative properties. This tradition still continues almost unchanged, and today, aside from worshipers, tourists from all over the world also come to this place to marvel at its beauty, and bathe in its refreshing blessed water. You are more welcome to bathe in the water as long as you follow protocol. Recommend you do.

Third stop for the day - We head to Goa Gajah, or the Elephant Cave Temple and it is one of the most significant archaeological sites in Bali and has a UNESCO World Heritage Site listing.The cave's entrance looks like an enormous mouth representing the door to an underworld. . Goa Gajah is the beautiful surroundings. The Elephant Cave takes minutes to

explore however, rice paddies, and gardens invite further exploration into the adjoining valley with a small waterfall and the ruins of the Buddhist temple nearby.There is no denying the ancient spiritual and philosophical significance of Goa Gajah. Goa Gajah

If we making good time we may just visit the Kemenuh Butterfly Park. Walk through a lush tropical garden and witness a variety of brightly-colored and beautiful butterflies in Bali as you visit , one of the best parks in Bali.Kemenuh Butterfly Park

The Big Garden Corner is a recreational destination that not only is surrounded by beautiful gardens but also sculptures like the miniatures of Borobudur Temple and 600 statues,water features and a mini village setup.

Day 4 - First Stop - BALI BIRD Park.The park is divided into seven regions that recreate the natural habitats of the birds, complete with indigenous plant life.Travel with in the Park from the deep misty jungle of Sumatra to Far East Indonesia and Papua to discover the native birds from these remote regions. Venture to other tropical continents situated with in the park creating locations including South America, the African Savannah and Australia. Walk side-by side with cassowaries, crested-cranes, storks and pelicans, pink flamingos and many more birds as they wander freely through the park. Also see the Komodo dragons, these giant monitor lizards that are direct descendants of the dinosaurs

that lived nearly 100 million years ago.The Free Flight Bird Show starts at 10.30 am and shows magnificent eagles, owls, and macaws soar through the skies, dive down at dummy prey, and snatch food from their handlers to the amazement of the audience. Well worth it.

Second Stop - Ubud Monkey Forest, also known as the Sacred

Monkey Forest of Padangtegal It is one of Ubud's most popular attractions; a natural forest sanctuary that is home to a horde of grey long-tailed macaques. A word of warning however. While it is always tempting to touch or feed the monkeys, you are advised against it. They are wild animals. Another rule of thumb is to avoid wearing any loose jewelry or apparel - the macaques may easily snatch a necklace or bag for something interesting enough to eat.

Time to say goodbye to your simian friends in Ubud and head for the magnificent terraced rice fields of Tegallalang.Third Stop - Tegallalang is an enchanting rows of rice terraces that catch the attention of every visitor. They are famous for their beautiful scenes of rice paddies and their innovative irrigation system. Known as the subak, the traditional Balinese cooperative irrigation system is said to have been passed down by a revered holy man named Rsi Markandeya in the 8th century. A local elder, a farmer, will place the traditional woven hat on your head and position a yoke and baskets over your shoulder and pose with you for photos, for a small fee.

Here you will be able to have a meal and refreshments at CafeDewi, a quaint hillside cafe overlooking the rice terraces

Travel on to Kintamani. Kintamani is a village on the western edge Mount Batur which is still an active volcano. The veiw points give outstanding views of Mount Batur and Lake Batur.

The drive back to Sanur will take us through quaint villages and fields.It will have been a longish day.I suggest, for something different, take an amble to Sanur Night markets and partake in some of the fare on offer. Highly recommended is the Martabak. Martabak is commonly referred for fried stuffed pancakes, however in Indonesia; we have two kinds of these heavenly foods: Martabak Telur (pan fried bread with eggs inside) and Martabak Manis (sweet pancake with various sweet toppings). Delicious.

Day 5 - Tanah Lot - Taman Ayun Temple - JatiluwihFirst stop - Tanah Lot. Tanah Lot means Land in The Sea, a perfectly fit name for its unique offshore settings. The silhouette of Pura Tanah Lot is one of the most popular iconic features of Bali. It is home to the ancient Hindu pilgrimage temple, Pura Tanah Lot, a popular tourist and cultural icon for especially for photography.

Second Stop - 'Jatiluwih' is the name given to the lush green rice terraces that cover Tabanan. This area is more beautiful than its better-known sister, Tegallalang, and its panoramic views with Mt. Agung and Mt. Batukaru in the background,

make it a photographer's delight.

Lunch will be at the excellent Jati Harum Bali Resturant and Luwak Coffee House. We can try a variety of coffees and teas including the authentic Luwak civet coffee.A civet is a mostly nocturnal mammal that looks sort of like a cross between a cat and a weasel, and is native to tropical Asia and Africa. The civet apparently enjoys eating coffee fruit, the beans are retrieved after they passed through the digestive

system, then roasting and brewing the coffee. Before you get too grossed out, only the fruit part of the berry is eaten/digested by the civet. The shell is passed through the digestive system and the coffee bean is inside of that, so it never comes in contact with the excrement.Bali Kopi Luwak is one of the most expensive coffees in the world with a retail price as high as US$700 per kilo and US$35 to $80 for a cup. Located amid a beautiful surrounding, you will get the chance to learn more about coffee production in Bali here. You have the option of tasting a selections of the plantation's coffee and teas and also get close to its civets.

Third Stop -On the way back to Sanur we will visit the beautiful Taman Ayun Temple. This temple was built in 1634 by the King of Mengwi. It is set in the middle of magnificent gardens andponds and surrounded by a moat, with access via the bridge. It is UNESCO World Heritage SIte.The beautiful Taman Ayun Temple showcasing Balinese architecture but also imagine how Balinese royals lived their life behind palace walls back in the day.

Day 6 - A rest day of sorts, however for those who wish there is an option to head to the fabulous Jimbaran Bay to enjoy dinner at one of the many seafood restaurants serving delicious barbecue, local and/or western food on the beach. Sitting in the warm gentle breeze on the beach under firelight is a just magic. Sink your feet in the sand as you dine and relax and take in the glorious sunset. Just magic.

Day 7 - We depart at at 11 am after a cruisey morning. Maybe a coffee at Rosettas Cafe on Singhu Beach and/or a dip before we depart..We will travel to Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park . Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue (also GWK statue) is a 122-meter tall statue The statue is about 30 m (98 ft) higher than the Statue of Liberty, but Liberty is tall and thin, while Garuda is almost as wide as it is high - its wingspan is 64 m (210 ft).

Travelling further south to take in a spectacular sunset (weather permitting) over the Indian Ocean at the Uluwatu Temple. Experience the best sundown spot in Bali at the Uluwatu Temple. Part of a series of temples built to protect the island from evil spirits, today its cliff-side location is the permanent home to a family of friendly monkeys.The Balinese name is Pura Luhur Uluwatu. Uluwatu Temple dates back to the 11th century and is situated at land's end to protect from evil spirits. Made from black coral rock, the tiered shape of the sea temple has a dramatic contrast against its precarious location and creates the most amazing silhouette at sunset.

At 05.00 pm we will take our seats for the sacred "kecak" fire dance performed on the cliff-side, adjacent to the temple with a troupe of around 75 male and female dancers. Kecak, a

Balinese form of dance and music drama also known as Ramayana Monkey Chant, or simply "monkey dance. The performance depicts a battle from the Ramayana, in which the monkey-like Vanaras, led by Hanuman, help Prince Rama fight the evil King Ravana. Kecak has roots in sanghyang, a trance-inducing exorcism dance.Your visit to the island won't be complete without seeing this show, and the best place to do so is at the cliff-top amphitheatre located just south of the Uluwatu Temple on Bali's southern Bukit peninsula... and at sunset for added drama.

Day 8 - The next day there is no rush. Time for a battery day charge and a to do as you wish.

Day 9 - A half day of leisure. Walk on the beach, go shopping. take a dip in the pool or the warm Indian Ocean, experience a relaxing massage or have a Bintang on the beach front or at some of many great watering holes in Sanur or just do nothing. Soak up Sanur, it is a cracking area of Bali.Always a sad time leaving Bali. However you have ample time to prepare for your trip home. You will be collected from the hotel and transferred to the airport. Porters will be arranged to assist you with your luggage to the check in.
