THE FIRST READING II KINGS 2:1, 9-18 PSALMODY PSALM 47

Clap your hands, all you peoples; shout to God with a cry of joy.

For the LORD Most High is to be feared; he is the great king over all the earth.

He subdues the peoples under us,and the nations under our feet.

He chooses our inheritance for us,the pride of Jacob whom he loves.

God has gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of the ram's horn.

Sing praises to God, sing praises;sing praises to our king, sing praises.

For God is King of all the earth;sing praises with all your skill.

God reigns over the nations; God sits upon his holy throne.

SEE, THE CONQUEROR MOUNTS IN TRIUMPH (Sung to In Babilone)

1.See, the Conqu’ror mounts in triumph; see the King in royal state, Riding on the clouds, his chariot, to his heav’nly palace gate!Hark, the choirs of angel voices joyful alleluias sing, And the portals high are lifted to receive their heav’nly King.

3.While he lifts his hands in blessing, he is parted from his friends; While their eager eyes behold him, he upon the clouds ascends. He who walked with God and pleased Him, preaching truth and doom to come, He, our Enoch, is translated to his everlasting home.

4. Now our heav’nly Aaron enters with his blood within the veil; Joshua now is come to Canaan, and the kings before him quail. Now he plants the tribes of Israel in their promised resting place; Now our great Elijah offers double portion of his grace.

5. Thou hast raised our human nature on the clouds to God’s right hand; There we sit in heavenly places, there with thee in glory stand. Jesus reigns, adored by angels; man with God is on the throne. Mighty Lord, in thine ascension we by faith behold our own. PROFESSION OF FAITH NICENE CREED We believe in one God,

the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,

eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light,

Page 10: elcwarren.org  · Web viewAlmighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of

true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation

he came down from heaven; by the power of the Holy Spirit

he became incarnate from the virgin Mary, and was made man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again

in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven

and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge

the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is

worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one Baptism for the

forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, ( + )

and the life of the world to come. AmenTHE PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION
