DESCRIPTION

When Jesus came, he often demonstrated compassion, an open heart, for those who were in need (whether physically or spiritually), and through the parables taught us that we must have this same open heart for one another. This is what John teaches us in our text, that we are to love one another, as Jesus loved. In this lesson we are challenged to love with open hearts.

There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man's table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores.
