DAFT Workshop
12.30-2.00pm 8 September 2017Conference Room Ashbourne Training Centre Kingsway
Hospital Derby DE22 3LZ
Using Psychodynamic Ideas in Systemic Practice
Facilitator: Chris Ward and Karen Johnson
Systemic family therapy came into existence partly as a reaction against aspects of psychoanalytic thinking. However in recent years systemic and psychoanalytic/psychodynamic practitioners have been learning from each others’ perspectives. Additionally systemic and analytic thinking has developed significantly over the past 50 years, particularly in terms of understanding human development in relational systems.
In this workshop we will be using clinical examples to look at how concepts from both theoretical frameworks have been used to help families with complex needs. Karen will talk about how some basic concepts such as transference, countertransference, protection and parallel process can contribute to hypotheses about relationships in family systems.
This workshop is free and both parents/carers and professionals are welcome. PPD Certificates are awarded. Come along with your lunch if you want to. No need to book. If you would like to contact us or keep up to date with DAFT news including the latest on presentations and conferences see:
