6.1.1 Factors in the American Industrial Revolution – Analyze the factors that enabled the United States to become a major industrial power, including:• gains from trade• organizational “revolution” (corporations & unions)• advantages of physical geography • immigration and migration • economic polices of government • technological advances

6.1.2 Labor’s Response to Industrial Growth – Evaluate the different responses of labor to industrial change including:• development of organized labor, including the Knights of Labor, American Federation of Labor, and the United Mine Workers• southern and western farmers’ reactions, including the growth of populism and the populist movement

6.1.3 Urbanization – Analyze the changing urban and rural landscape by examining:• the location and expansion of major urban centers • the growth of cities linked by industry and trade • the development of cities divided by race, ethnicity, class• resulting tensions among and within groups • different perspectives about urban immigrant experiences

PowerPoint/Google Slides Presentations : This unit has two slideshow teachings available on the class website in the “Online Teachings” tab to help you learn the content and organize your learning.

Classroom Study Groups : Students can choose to work with a group of students to complete readings, reviews, etc.

Classroom Discussion Groups : Students can choose to work with a group of students to discuss, evaluate and analyze unit content and concepts. These groups should be dealing with higher level thinking skills—analysis, evaluation, etc.
