Nonington Walk Fredville and Badgers approx. 2 miles This walk takes you to into Fredville Park and by some active badger setts. 1. From the bus shelter, go up to the top of Vicarage Lane, climb the stile on your left into a field. 2. Nonington Walk Fredville and Badgers approx. 2 miles

This walk takes you to into Fredville Park and by some active badger setts.

1. From the bus shelter, go up to the top of Vicarage Lane, climb the stile

on your left into a field.

2. Follow the direction of the fingerpost and walk diagonally across the field, towards a tall evergreen and to a stile opposite in a hedge and

fence. 3. Continue on the track in front of you to the road ( Holt Street). Turn

Right and continue up Holt Street, past Betts Garage to a footpath on

your left opposite a track.

4. Take the footpath between two properties, to the end of the gardens and turn right. To a fence. Turn left and keep the fence on your right.

5. Go forward on this path along the edge of the field, past the badger setts.

6. Go through the kissing gate and continue to keep the fence on your right, go forwards uphill until you find another kissing gate. Go through the gate.

7. Go forwards slightly to your left across this field. Keep the fallen tree to your left.

Notice the beautiful Turkey Oak on your left.8. Continue to a kissing gate. Go through the kissing gate to the edge of a fence and

copse to your right and carry on across the field , keeping a newly planted tree to your left. Head for the Top Lodge by the white field gate.

9. At the field gate , turn left onto the track and make your way back through Freville Park, crossing 2 cattle grids and coming down the hill to Holt Street and the bus shelter.

In the 1930’s Dr. Hardman, a noted East Kent historian recorded the memories of Richard Jarvis Arnold of life in Nonington in the 1880’s & 90’s. Mr. Arnold, a blacksmith born in Nonington but who later lived and worked in Walmer, recollected: “The trees of Fredville Park were well known. In addition to the old
