Phonics https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/resourcesBuried Treasure- choose a phase (you will be told which phase your child is working in) and then a sound to focus on-children have to read the words then decide if they are real or not real

Discuss how words can rhyme with your child-this is because they have the same sound at the end (not the start) can children say words that rhyme with cat? dog? Or to challenge-car? Ear? Can children write a list sounding out each word?

https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources Obb and Bob- choose a phase (you will be told which phase your child is working in) and then a sound to focus on-children have to read the words then decide if they are real or not real

Science/Creative/PSHE

We were planning to make chocolate crispy cakes in school this week! Instead I will attach the recipe and you could make them at home if you have the ingredients, if not you could make some other cakes!

Experiment-floating and sinking in the bath! Children choose objects (and check with you!) to test whether they float or sink in the bath! Have a discussion-why do some materials sink and some float? Can they predict which other objects will float

Have a discussion about year one-how do children feel? What are they looking forward to? What are they not sure about? If they have any questions please send them to me and I will get the answers from their year one teachers!

Children make a list of what they are good at and one wish-what would they like to be better at in year one. Take a picture then I can send this onto their new teachers!

http://www.robbiddulph.com/draw-with-rob

Children have really enjoyed copying ‘Rob’ as he draws his characters. They have loved being artists! Just choose a character for them to draw-he talks a bit at the start so you can skip the introduction!

PE Give children an activity e.g. star jumps-how many can they do in the time it takes to count to 10? Then try jumping-how many can they do? Then rolls? Frog jumps?

Go for a walk with your child-every time they get to a lamppost they could choose a different way to move-jumping, hopping, star jumps, walking in a wiggly line! See how imaginative they can be!

Put on some music-how many different animal ways can children choose to move-they will love it if you join in too!

Just dance-all the family can do this! Just dance kids is great fun on Youtube!
