To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world

From the Pastor’s Pen

As of this writing the farmers have not been able to plant their crops

due to wet fields and I have not been able to plant my little garden

either. If seeds are not able to go in soon, it will be too late and

there will be no harvest around here. Nothing sowed, nothing to

reap.

As many know, I enjoy landscaping and gardening. I enjoy

watching things that start out small grow larger and stronger and in

the case of perennials, bushes and trees, come to life again each

spring. June ends the 2nd year my family and I have lived in Roa-

noke and I have been honored to serve as your pastor. We can al-

ready see a difference in lilac and peony planted last year growing

better and stronger this year. As long as God gives me breath and

strength I will “play in the dirt” a bit each year. Each year we are

here, you should see improvements in parsonage grounds.

Farmers and gardeners have busy seasons, farmers especially. But

there is a season of rest in winter as well as nature “sleeps” and re-

news. God designed us as people to need rest and renewal – a

weekly Sabbath rest and seasons of rest. Farmers have a season

of rest after the exhausting, incredible season of harvesting. We at

Seminary slow down and “rest” a bit in July and early August after

our very busy Easter season then VBS “season.” Many are happy

tired from wrapping up youth, Kids Club, VBS and a seeming host

of other things along with the school year.

Vacation Bible School is a wonderful effective opportunity

to introduce boys and girls to Jesus and His Body, the Church.

Let us do all we can to love and teach the children in the Name of

Jesus. Pastor Josh

time for you at Seminary or you may have some ponder-

ings about faith, love, joy, peace, forgiveness, or other

fruits to share. Just jot down 150-250 words and attach

a favorite Bible verse. Together we will give a beautiful

testimony. Please email or give your entry to Pastor

Josh, Terri or Ann McPherren.

([email protected]). Deadline – June 30.

Thank you!

Roy, family and friends of Jo DeFord . Your church family at Seminary continue prayers of comfort and peace. Treasure great memories.
