FogThe fog comes

on little cat feet.

It sits lookingover harbour and city

on silent haunches

and then moves on.

The FogI like the fog

It's soft and cool,

It hides everything

On the way to school.

I can't see a house

I can't see a tree,

Because the fog

Is playing with me.

The sun comes out

The fog goes away,

But it shall be back

Another day.

The Playful Wind

The wind came out

to play today

It blew the clouds

out of its way

It blew the leaves,

and away they flew

The trees bent low,

and their branches did too.

Thunder Storm

I like to see a thunder storm,

A dunder storm,

A blunder storm,I like to see it, black and slow,

Come stumbling down the hills.

I like to hear a thunder storm,

A plunder storm,A wonder storm,

Roar loudly at our little house

And shake the window sills!

The Rain

Pitter-patter raindrops,

Falling from the sky.

Here is my umbrellaTo keep me safe and dry.

When the rain is over

And the sun begins to glow,

Little flowers start to bud

And grow and grow and grow.

Little Raindrop

This is the sun, high up in the sky.A dark cloud suddenly comes sailing by.

These are the raindrops,

Pitter, pattering

down.Watering the flower seeds

That grow under the ground.

Rain Rain

Rain rain falls on the street,

mud in puddles cleaning my feet.

Thunder thunder rumble and roar,

close the windows and lock the door.

Clouds, clouds black and gray,

heavy with water to drop all day.Sun sun is breaking through,

clouds are moving, the rain stops too.

Rainbow rainbow across the sky,

see-through colors to tickle my eyes.

Wind Pictures

Look! There's a giant stretching in the sky,

A thousand white-maned horses flying by,

A house, a mother mountain with her hills,A lazy lady posing in her frills,

cotton floating from a thousand bales,

And a white ship with white sails.

See the old witch fumbling with her shawl,

White towers piling on a castle wall, the bits of soft that break and fall away,

Airborne mushrooms with undersides of gray -

Above, a white doe races with her fawn

On the white grass of a celestial lawn.

Lift up your lovely heads and lookAs wind turns clouds into a picture book.

Wonderful Weather

I like to watch the way the wind

can spin a weather vane.

I like to wear my big blue boots

to splash with in the rain.

I like to ride my bright red sled

on cold snowy days.

I like to feel the sun's warm rays

when I wade in the ocean waves.

Wind, rain, snow, and sun

Every kind of weather

is wonderful and fun!

Umbrella Fun

Umbrellas are for make-believe

The one I have is red.

I twirl it upside down and it's a carousel instead.I use it for a parachute (I don't jump very far.)

Or else I walk a tightrope

On the shadow of a bar

I think it must be magic, too.

My mother was upsetthe day it vanished in the rain

And I got soaking wet.

Sunflakes

If sunlight fell like snowflakes,

gleaming yellow and so bright,

we could build a sunman,

we could have a sunball fight,

we could watch the sunflakes

drifting in the sky.We could go sleighing

in the middle of July

through sundrifts and sunbanks,

we could ride a sunmobile,

and we could touch sunflakes-

I wonder how they'd feel.

Five Umbrellas

Five umbrellas stood by the door,

The red one went outside, then there were four.

Four umbrellas, pretty as could be,

The blue one went outside, then there were three.

Three umbrellas with nothing to do,

The green one went outside, then there were two.Two umbrellas not having much fun,

The yellow one went outside, then there was one.

Just one umbrella alone in the hall,

The purple one went outside, and that was all.

Weather

Weather is hot,Weather is cold,

Weather is changing

As the weeks unfold.

Skies are cloudy,

Skies are fair,

Skies are changing

In the air.

It is raining,

It is snowing,

It is windy

With breezes blowing.Days are foggy,

Days are clear,

Weather is changing

Throughout the year!

Snow Towards EveningSuddenly the sky turnded gray,

The day,

Which had been bitter and chill,

Grew soft and stil.

Quietly

From some invisible blossoming tree

Millions of petals cool and whiteDrifted and blew

Lifted and flew,

Fell with the falling night.

Water Cycle(tune of "It's Raining, It's Pouring")

It's raining,

it's pouring,

The oceans are storing

Water from the falling rain

While thunderclouds are roaring.

The rain now is stopping,

The rain's no longer dropping.Sun comes out and soaks up water

Like a mop that's mopping.

The water's still there now,

But hidden in the air now.

In the clouds it makes a home

Until there's rain to share now.

It's raining, it's pouring...

Rainbow Song

Red and yellow and pink and green,Purple and orange and blue.

I can sing a rainbow,

Sing a rainbow,

You can sing one too!

Listen with your eyes,

Listen with your eyes,

And sing everything you see.

You can sing a rainbow,

Sing a rainbow,

Sing a long with me.Red and yellow and pink and green,

Purple and orange and blue.

You can sing a rainbow,

Sing a rainbow,Now you've sung one too!

Thunder and Lightning(to the tune of "Pop Goes the Weasel")

When a storm begins in the clouds,

It sometimes may look frightening.

You see a quick electrical spark--

Flash! goes the lightning!

Long and thin and streaky and fast,

Its glow is oh so brightening.Watch for the electric spark--

Flash! goes the lightning!

When a storm begins in the clouds,

It truly is a wonder.

You hear a rumble loud in the sky--

Clap! goes the thunder!

Lightning bolts are heating the air,

Over clouds and under.

When the air expands enough--Clap! goes the thunder.

Unsuitable Weather

Unsuitable Weather

It's raining, it's boring,

I feel like exploring.

But I'm stuck here,

8/6/2019 Weather Poems

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/weather-poems 19/23

My face a sneer,

Just staring at the flooring!

It's thundering, it's lightning,

My misery is heightening.

There's nothing to do,

But sit here and stew,

As there's no sign it is brightening!

It's hailing, it's snowing,

My boredom is growing.

I might go bed,

And rest my head,

There's just no hope of it slowing!

It's misty, it's foggy,

And outside's really soggy.

If I don't move,

And eat some food,

I'll end up faint and groggy!

It's sunny, it's clearing,This sudden change is cheering!

But I'm having fun,

The TV's on,

And I'm not disappearing!

Weather Together

There are holes in the clouds

where the sun peeks through,

Patches of sky,

scraps of blue,

It's raining rain

and bits of ice

bounce down liketiny grains of rice.

This weather together

changes by the minute

And I can hardly wait

to walk out in it!

Rain Sizes

8/6/2019 Weather Poems

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/weather-poems 21/23

Rain comes in various sizes

Some rain is as small as a mist

It tickles your face with surprises

And tingles as if you'd been kissed.

Some rain is the size of a sprinkle

And doesn't put out all the sun

You can see the drops sparkle and twinkle

And a rainbow comes out when it's done.

Some rain is as big as a nickelAnd comes with a crash and a hiss

It comes down too heavy to tickle

It's more like a splash than a kiss.

When it rains the right size and you're wrapped in

Your rain clothes, it's fun out of doorsBut run home before you get trapped in

The big rain that rattles and roars.

Today We Had Some Weather

Today we had some weather

like I've never seen before,

so I pulled on my galoshes

and I headed out the door.

It sprinkled, first so lightly,

it could easily be mist.A tornado then came dancing by,

it swung and did the twist.

The fogbanks opened up their vaults

and let out all their fogs,

and the dog pound took a pounding;

it was raining cats and dogs.

It started raining buckets,

then the rain came down in sheets.

I had never seen so many

sheets and buckets in the streets.

I'd planned to watch the weather

and, though gallantly I tried,

when it started hailing taxis

I gave up and went inside.

Whistling Wind

8/6/2019 Weather Poems

If you hear the whistling wind,

Cup your ears.

If you hear the whistling wind,

Cup your ears.If you hear it in the trees

Making music with the leaves,

If you hear the whistling wind,

Cup your ears.

If you feel the Blustery wind,Whirl around

If you feel the blustery wind,

Whirl around.

If you feel it lift your hair

Like a kite up in the air,If you feel the blustery wind,

Whirl around.
