We’re coming back to school. Yippee!!

Time to get ready for Knight School!

We haven’t been at school for a long time because of that nasty bug– the Coronavirus. The bug can make people very poorly, so by staying at home we helped to stop that bug

from spreading and kept others safe.

We did an amazing job! We did such a good job that now we are now able to do

more things than just stay at home all day. We can spend lots more time outdoors with our family now and…

…..we can come back to school!

Because the bug hasn’t completely disappeared when we come back to school we need to make some changes.

The changes are to make sure that we continue to keep

that bug away!

But…. even though our class will not look the same as it did, and you won’t be able to do all the things you used to

do, we are definitely going to have lots of fun with our learning AND you will get to play with your friends again!

Our classroom We will be in the pink classroom. Mrs Chapman will meet you at the door every morning. Our new classroom is going to be called ‘Curiosity Castle’. Have you ever been to a castle before?

You will have your own ‘throne’ to sit at when in our castle. We will no longer sit on the carpet.

In the castle we will try out the Home Learning Challenges from the website. One challenge (highlighted in green) is for you to do at home with your grown-ups. We also want you to read at home each day and to practise your sounds and tricky words too.

Choosing time! When it is ‘choosing time’ we will go outdoors to play. There will not be as many toys to play with and you will not be allowed to play with the sand,

water or playdough and will not be able to go on the climbing equipment or use the dressing-up clothes or puppets.

That’s because we need to be able to clean all the toys that we play with

each day to get rid of the bug!

But…we will make sure there are lots of different things for you to play with and do each day. You will be able to play with your friends too but to

help stop the bug spreading we will ask you not to hug each other. Keep those hugs for when you are at home!

Some other changes you will notice….

We will not be using the lockers or trays in school so please make sure you do not bring anything to school other than your lunch, drink bottle and coat!

We also won’t be sending any reading books home so please continue to use the books from Oxford Owl that you have been using during lockdown.

Our class will stay together as a group all through the

day. We will have playtime together and lunch-time together too. This is called staying in our ‘bubble’.

Other children coming back to school will be in their ‘bubbles’ too.

Finally, you will notice that there will be quite a lot of time washing our hands. The grown ups will be cleaning the toys and classroom lots too. Do you remember our super handwashing posters we made to help us remember how to keep our hands clean and bug free?

Cleaning our hands with soap and water is the best way to keep the bugs and germs away!

Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds– count to 20 or sing the Happy Birthday song twice!

We will wash our hands when we arrive at school, before and after we eat, after playing, when we have been to the toilet and before we go home.

We know there are a lot of changes Ladybirds but you really don’t need to worry about anything.

The grown-ups will help you with everything!
