Bell Work
We are starting class a little differently today, please complete the survey silently and independently.
You may choose to write your name on it or remain anonymous.
Expectations Going Forward
You are to respect each other, be respectful of yourself and the teacher.
Those choosing not to meet the expectations will receive a warning and will be asked to leave the learning environment.
Your purpose in here is to learn Geometry. The expectations on the learning ladder stand. These are in place to help you achieve the success you and your classmates deserve.
Bell Work
You are working for an architectural firm and you have only been given a ruler, a compass and a protractor. You have been asked to construct parallel lines in the sketch of your building. Please write a paragraph aided by pictures as to how you could guarantee that your lines are parallel. (HINT: Using definitions from the past few days in your learning ladders will add clarity and accuracy in your explanation.) We will share out some of the responses.

Outcomes
WE WILL: Examine properties of angle pairs. Think about how the properties of
angle pairs relate to whether a line is parallel or not.
EQ:/ How do we know when lines are parellel?
Parallel Or Not?
For the following picture, I will call on random students to tell me whether or not the lines are parallel? Please refer to one of the angle pairs in your answer.
Given the Picture:
Determine if the lines are parallel (and why) if:
(1) m 1=130°, m 8=130°∠ ∠
(2) m 2=60∠ °, m 6=60°∠
(3) m 5=40°, m 4=50°∠ ∠
(4) m 3=87°, m 5=93∠ ∠ °(5) m 4=100°, m 6=100°∠ ∠
(6) m 2=75°, m 5=100°∠ ∠

Construction Activity.
We will perform the construction activity. You may discuss with the people in your table group on being able to make the construction.
If the text is too wordy, try drawing the pictures step by step. You will be able to achieve the construction that way.
Study Guide
Please work independently and silently on your study guide.
Be sure that you are showing all work.
You are welcome to use your foldable, and notes from this week.
We will get back together 5 minutes before the end of the class to discuss study guide questions. Think about questions you may want to ask.
