Quality Payment Scheme: November Review Point – URGENT ACTIONS REQUIRED. Do not allow your quality payment to be ZERO!!!

The Quality Payment Scheme involves payments being made to community

pharmacy contractors for meeting certain gateway and quality criteria, with funding taken from the overall

funding for 2017/18 of £2.592 billion.

The next review point at which the Quality Payment can be claimed is Friday 24th November 2017. Upcoming Health Champion Training - LIMITED PLACES REMAINING - BOOK NOW

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS FOR PHARMACIES IN THE WEST SUSSEX AREASONLY.

Health Champions are a mandatory aspect of HLP Level 1 which is a quality criteria for Quality Payments.

There are remaining places on the FREE HEALTH CHAMPION TRAINING Event scheduled for pharmacy staff for the West Sussex area as listed below.

Inhaled therapies & COPD update including the role of the LAMA/LABA inhalers. In inhaler technique session and an introduction to the COPD Community service team.

15th November 2017, 19.00—21.15 at The Worthing Health Education Centre (Post Grad Centre), Park Ave, Worthing, BN11 2HR—REGISTER HERE

The evening will include: COPD Community Service who we are and what we do. Plus, a session to understand how to ensure your patients are using their inhalers optimally – inhaler technique for the NEW and older inhaler devices. - Karthik Mahadevan Respiratory Physiotherapist, Laura Cuthbert, Rebecca Toone and Julie Hardaker Respiratory Nurse specialist Sussex Community Team

COPD Update - Brief overview of COPD and COPD treatment guidelines to include where the new LAMA/LABAs fit into this treatment pathway, local guidance - Dr Numbere, Respiratory Consultant Worthing Hospital

This meeting is supported by AstraZeneca through the purchase of exhibition trade space. The meeting has organised by West Sussex LPC.

What are the Gateway Criteria and what MUST I do?

1. Provision of one specified Advanced Service - help here

2. NHS Choices entry up to date - You MUST edit or re-validate your NHS Choices profile between 00:00 on 11th September 2017 and 11:59pm on 24th November 2017 to meet the gateway criterion. Full information and help here

3. Ability for staff to send and receive NHS mail

If your pharmacy has applied for a shared NHSmail account, but have not yet got one, you MUST ACT NOW to ensure you have one and are using it in time for the November review point of the Quality Payments Scheme. More information and help here

IMPORTANT: if you DO have a pharmacy shared NHSMail Account – YOU MUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE USING IT TO DEMONSTRATE YOU CAN SEND AND RECEIVE EMAILS THROUGH IT. This is essential to pass this gateway criteria in November.

4. Ongoing utilisation of the Electronic Prescription Service.

What are the Quality Criteria and what MUST I do?

The Quality Payments Scheme hub on the PSNC website (psnc.org.uk/quality) has been updated, which includes an extensive list of frequently asked questions about the Scheme.

Online Reporting Declaration and Claims

The online declaration on the NHSBSA website will be open for claims declarations for review Point Two (24th November 2017) from: Monday 13th November 2017 at 09:00 and will close on Friday 8th December 2017 at 23:59

Ahead of the declaration portal opening on the NHS Business Services Authority (NHS BSA) website for the November review point the following support is available to prepare for completing the declarations:

PSNC Briefing 078/17: Quality Payments – Completing the NHS BSA Quality Payments declaration this gives information on how to make a declaration for the November review point and details the questions which will be asked.

NHS BSA WebEx sessions on various dates throughout November to provide guidance on how to submit your declarations. A booking form and further details on when the WebEx sessions will be held can be found here

CPPE - Type 2 Diabetes focal point Event.

21st November 2017, 19.30—21.15 at The Arundel Park Hotel, The Causeway, Arundel, BN18 9JL.

The aim of this learning programme is to update your knowledge of the management of type 2 diabetes. We will explore how you apply your knowledge in your sector of practice and help you to better manage this condition, reduce complications and improve outcomes for people with type 2 diabetes.

Help for: HLP Level 1 Quality Payment Scheme Quality Criteria - Resources to help pharmacies in West Sussex LPC area to plan and record evidence for this criterion. This is achievable and is worth £1,280.

Some pharmacies/multiples will arrange for this to be done centrally, please to liaise with company managers/head office to find out the company procedure for your pharmacy.

For HLP Level 1 accreditation you must have at least one Full Time Equivalent Health Champion in your pharmacy trained to RSPH Level 2. There are limited remaining places on the FREE HEALTH CHAMPION TRAINING Event for pharmacy staff for the West Sussex LPC area as below If you have one champion already, consider training another for business continuity.

HLP-Level-1-checklist This is a simple checklist for you to make sure your portfolio is complete. You can use the same piece of evidence for more than one of the items on the list. When you are ready to make your online declaration to the RSPH click here

It takes up to 2 weeks to get email confirmation of your HLP level 1 accreditation after completing the RSPH declaration… so it MUST be done at least 2 weeks before the 24th November Quality Payment Scheme Review Point for your completion of the Quality Point Declaration to NHSBSA. If you do not get a confirmation email from RSPH after a few days after completing your online declaration please telephone 020 7265 7322 to check its been received.

The West Sussex Health Promotion Resource Service, part of the Public Health Team based at County Hall in Chichester, has various materials, including display items, leaflets and posters, that cover things like healthy eating, physical activity, stopping smoking, alcohol reduction, NHS Health Checks, sun awareness etc.

West Sussex Wellbeing Hubs:

West Sussex Wellbeing offers support and advice to any individual who lives or works in West Sussex. Each District and Borough offers a wellbeing service with trained advisors providing brief interventions and motivational interviewing on a range of lifestyle services including but not limited to- how to eat well, weight loss, pre diabetes, how to increase levels of physical activity and reduce sedentary behaviour, and how to link into other services such as housing and benefit support.

Each local wellbeing hub is available to link with the pharmacies in each area to support the programmes you offer, and you can signpost and refer to the wellbeing service directly.
