Poverty in WNCIn 2008, 14.6% of North Carolina’s population was below the poverty line. The number increased to 16.3% in 2009.1
In 2010, 1 in 6 WNC residents received emergency food from MANNA FoodBank’s network.2
In 2010, Jackson County has an unemployment rate of 9%.3
