Where Does New York City’s Water Come From?

The New York Cit surface ater supply system provides approximately 1.3 billion gallon of safe drinking water daily to 8 million residents in New York City. The water is supplied from a network of 19 reser-voirs and three controlled lakes in 1,969 square-mile watershed from 125 miles north of New York City. In addition, 90% of water comes from Delaware, Greene, Schohaire, and west of Hudson River .
