Walk MS Team Captain Participating as a team captain for the National MS Society’s fundraising event, Walk MS, is an opportunity for individuals to expand their leadership skills through meaningful interactions with community volunteer leaders, participants and Society staff. Team captains work together to contribute to a world free of multiple sclerosis (MS), through team fundraising activi-ties. Team captains will partner with Society staff to determine a success plan for meeting their desired goal.

• Almost 80% of dollars raised go toward the mission• Average team size is 10 members• Those who use the participant center raise four times

Successful Team Captains will:• Raise money to fund reseach, and programs and services for people living with MS• Mentor team members to maximize their fundraising potential• Take an active role in building awareness and creating connections for the MS

Commitment:• Setarealistic,butsignificantgoalforrecruitmentandfundraising• Attend the team captains rally and schedule a personal meeting with Society staff• Utilize the resources provided for fundraising through participant center• Communicate important & timely information to team members• Create a meaningful experience for the team• Attend specially-designed learning sessions to enhance leadership role as
team captain
Tools provided by the National MS Society:• Team Captain guide with timeline, fundraising and recruitment ideas, and matching
gifts information• Participant center & guide with useful tips on how to set up personal and team pages and send emails
through society website• Event collateral (posters, rack cards, and pin-up sneakers)• Coaching & goal setting sessions with Society staff member• Access to the MS Center for Fundraising Development Leadership Programs and Classes
