POSITION OVERVIEW SCHOOL: Waihola District Primary School JOB TITLE/ TENURE: Permanent Scale A Teacher SALARY SCALE: A CLASS LEVEL: Year 4-8 The successful applicant will teach in a Middle-Senior class (Year 4-8) in 2020. Strengths in this area are essential, with multi-level school experience an advantage. Ongoing placement within the school is at the discretion of the principal and will be based on school needs. The school is seeking a versatile applicant with a proven record of skilled teaching. COMMENCEMENT: 3 February, 2020 (with teacher only days 30-31 Jan)

GENERAL INFORMATION

WAIHOLA DISTRICT SCHOOL

Waihola District School is a state funded co-educational full primary school (U1) with a

current roll of approximately 40 pupils. It is situated in Waihola, in South Otago, 30 minutes

south of Dunedin. The school is decile 7, and has well-developed programmes and practices

that deliver quality learning to its students, encouraging & supporting them to become self-

directed learners. The school tone is positive and calm, with a strong focus on learning & a

drive for continual improvement. Children & staff work together to maintain the positive,

welcoming & inclusive school culture. Children take on a range of roles and responsibilities

that enhance learning. The community is proud and supportive of the school and values the

open and welcoming relationship that exists.

Waihola District School is well-resourced with 2-3 classrooms, a community library, attractive

grounds and a large hall/ multi-purpose building. The classrooms and office areas are currently

being redeveloped and once completed will provide a more spacious, attractive and innovative

learning environment.

Nestled amongst established trees and native bush, children & staff enjoy the sound of birds

and a tremendous view of the Lake Waihola and wetlands. Our Environment Education

programme adds to the special character of our school, an inclusive learning environment

where diversity is valued and individual needs are catered for. A caring community help to

maintain and develop the school to the highest standard.

The school has a well-developed computer network, and students and teachers use a range of

digital technologies, including iPads, Chromebooks, laptops & desktop computers & interactive

whiteboards, as an integral & important part of their learning. The school is developing in its

use of cloud resources associated with Google Apps.

support of community experts. Our school yachting programme, popular with children of all
