All human beings need to be able to give and receive authentic love and to exercise power in some meaningful ways. Yet, we know all too well that love and power are complex, fragile, and easily misused. Our goal is to help one another embrace this complexity and to embrace relevant scripture to help us seek God’s guidance. WEDNESDAY NOON HEALING SERVICE | RM B-14 (WILSON ROOM) St. Matthew’s clergy invites you to (re)discover the Wednesday Noon Healing Service. This service is a warm and intimate celebration of the Holy Communion, including a dignified ritual of “laying on of hands” for those who come for healing. Special emphasis, too, is given to those holy women and holy men whose days on the liturgical calendar we honor during the year. Submitted by Travis Helms

COMMUNITY ACUPUNCTURE FOR STRESS RELIEF |TUESDAYS| NOON | B-14 | Join Jeanine Adinaro, parishioner and licensed acupuncturist, for a half-hour session of prayer and treatment every Tuesday—perfect for a little holiday stress relief. Inter-ested parties should wear comfortable clothes, eat a light snack beforehand, and bring a jacket or blanket if you find B-14 a little chilly. Those afraid of pins have an acupressure option, and those just not sure what acupuncture is are encouraged to contact Jeanine at [email protected]. Submitted by Christian Hawley

2019 Altar Flower Chart—Arrange to Dedicate Arrangements The St. Matthew’s Flower Guild lovingly cre-ates an arrangement of flowers for the altar each week. The flowers are sponsored by members of the congregation, who recognize friends and loved ones on their special days, celebrate important events, or just give thanks! The Flower Chart for 2019 is now posted on the bulletin board in the Commons. Look it over and pick a Sunday you’d like to make yours. There are plenty of dates open—though please remember that during Lent, we have no altar flowers or dedica-tions. Bless you! Submitted by Joyce Statz

A NEW YEAR WISH FOR FULL TUMMIES FOR EVERYONE You and I can make that wish come true by bringing each Sunday one non-perishable food item from our pantries for the Caritas North Food Pantry. Perhaps a note with your nametag will help you remember to bring food. I do it that way. This week’s specific needs are: fruit cocktail and other canned fruits, canned spinach and collard greens, hearty soups, cereals—hot and cold, and pasta. Baskets for dropping off your items are in the Caritas Corner of the sanctuary Commons and in Huffman Hall for the Family Service. If you’d prefer to make a donation of $1 or more toward purchasing food, there is a money box in the Commons, too. Thank you. I look forward to seeing you on Sunday. Submitted by Jane Baxter Lynn
