Volunteering Strategy for South
Australia:
Working collaboratively and
innovatively across sector boundaries to
create better outcomes for South
Australian volunteers
In the Beginning
How the stars aligned for
Volunteers in South Australia
Volunteering in South Australia was at a crossroads.
Traditionally, State Government led the development of
volunteering policy, programs and resources.
In 2013 an opportunity was identified to create a cross-sector
strategy to advance volunteering across South Australia.
The Volunteering Strategy for South Australia was launched in
2014 providing a coordinated approach to promote and sustain
volunteering over the next six years.
Scoping and building the
partnership
Partnerships take time and effort.
The following three key steps launched the historic partnership:

A structure was established to deliver and
achieve the overall aims of the strategy:
Partnership board established
Working groups formed
Action plan developed
The Dark Ages
Review of the process
2017 mid-term review
Key changes:
Dissolving the four working groups
Focusing on two priorities for the remainder of the strategy
Confusion and uncertainty around the review outcomes
