Disaster In December, Aviano Station
Manager Robyn Cadwallader traveled
to Vicenza to train approximately 10
community members in “An
Overview of Shelter Operations” and
“Shelter Management.” If the Vicenza military Community ever needs to
stand up a shelter during a disaster, a
small group of Red Cross volunteers are trained to support. If you are
interested in being trained in shelter operations, follow us on Facebook or
check back later with our Red Cross
office as will be having another day
of training in February.
Are you prepared for a disaster?
Do you have a disaster kit? Do you
know what documents you need on
hand if a disaster strikes? If the answer is no, you should take the Red
Cross course “Are You Prepared?” to
be offered sometime in March. Stay tuned for more details! Questions or
do you want to get more involved in
our disaster program? Contact Ken
Watkins, Disaster Chair, at
GIFT WRAPPING!
Thank you to all the wonderful
volunteers who assisted with our
gift wrapping fundraisers at the
PX on 4 and 13 December. We
raised over $250 for our
volunteer fund!

Bicycle Rodeo
The American Red Cross teamed up with the
USO and the PMO bicycle squad to put on a
Bicycle Rodeo in which kids of all ages were
taught basic and emergency biking skills. Not
only were kids prepped on how to deal with
different obstacles they might face while biking,
they also had their bikes inspected for safety and
helmets checked for proper fit. The course,
consisted of eight stations laid out in front of the
Vicenza Middle School. Each station had a
Volunteer which helped the child through that
portion of the course and reviewed the child’s
skill. A special thanks goes out to the USO,
PMO bike patrol, Caserma Ederle EMS, ODR,
AAFES Exchange, CYS, and the Vicenza
Middle School for their support.

Red Cross Club
The Red Cross Club is always looking
for ways to be involved with the
community. In December they
entertained children at the USARAF
Ball at Hotel Pigalle. The Club has
currently taken on a Mentoring
Program at the Vicenza Elementary
School. Nine club members dedicate
their time and energy to the Mentoring
Program every week. They will
continue the program through the end
of February. The Red Cross Club has
been doing such an amazing job this
past year and we look forward to
another great year. At our next
meeting, we will be recognizing
Mariah Marbut as the Volunteer of the
Month for November-December and be
electing new officers for 2014.
