Important Message From Tiffany

Dear Volunteers,

As many of you may know, my husband and I are expecting our second

child the second week of September! With my due date quickly

approaching, I wanted to update you on the status of my maternity leave

and who to contact during my absence.

I will continue working until Friday, September 9th before going on leave.

While I am on leave, Michelle Krompegal, who previously served as an

Intake volunteer and most recently has helped with several of our special

events and fundraisers, will be filling in part-time for me at BCM.

Please help Michelle make this transition by welcoming her and making

sure to let her know of any schedule changes. Please save her contact info

so that you can easily reach her with questions or scheduling changes

beginning September 12.

Closed for Labor Day

BCM and Buckhead THRIFTique will be closed from Saturday, September 3rd

through Monday, September 5th. We will resume our normal business hours

on Tuesday, September 6th.

Volunteer Reminders

BCM Office Closed Monday, September 12:

Please note that BCM will be closed on

Monday, September 12th for our annual golf

tournament, Tee If Up, hosted at Peachtree

Golf Club. All staff will be attending the event

so our office will be closed for client services

and volunteer opportunities.

Wednesday Service Hours: BCM is closed to

clients every Wednesday through

September. BCM will reopen on

Wednesday’s starting October 5, 2016 for

client services. Please remind clients of our

Wednesday service hours as you see them!

*Schedule Changes*

Are you returning from Summer break or

do you have upcoming travel plans? If so,

please let Michelle K. know of any

changes to your schedule or if you are

unable to volunteer during your regular

shift. We rely on our volunteers to serve

our clients so please contact Michelle K. at

(678) 399-8411 or via email at

michellekrompegal@bcmatlanta.org.

Intake Volunteers: Please remind clients

that no food or drinks are allowed in the

client intake rooms. They may enjoy their

refreshments in our client lobby.

Food Pantry Volunteers: Please

remember the following when working in

the pantry:

Add one box of cereal and one

can of fruit to every family’s

groceries (1 person - 6 person

households).

When food items are low on the

shelves, please remember to first

check the storage areas and boxes

of donations before reporting the

shortage to a staff member. We

want to ensure we are utilizing all

of donations before placing a

Kroger order.

August Volunteer of the Month

CONGRATULATIONS CYNTHIA SECH!

Cynthia has served

in various volunteer

roles throughout the

past 5 years at

BCM. From intake,

gift wrapping at the

Joyous Toys Store

or creating our

weekly job listing,

Cynthia always

brings her positive energy and smile to each role.

Recently, we had a client facing unemployment come to

our office in need of food, clothing and job resources.

While in the lobby, the client picked up the weekly job

listing that Cynthia creates for BCM. After applying for

one of the jobs on the listing, the client returned several

weeks later to BCM to let the staff know they were

offered the job they applied for and now working full-

time!

Every other Monday - 9:00am to 9:30am

Buckhead THRIFTique (Thrift Store):

Wednesdays - 10am to 1pm

Mondays and Thursdays - 1pm to 4pm

Saturdays - 1pm to 4pm

HELPLINE: Wednesday - 1pm to 4pm

INTAKE: Thursdays & Fridays - 1pm to 4pm

BCM’s food pantry is stocked with

food items that are donated by our

church partners, volunteers and

community members.

Food donations can be dropped off

at BCM’s pantry Monday - Friday

between 10am and 4pm.

Backpack Giveaway Update

During the months of

July and August, BCM

distributed a total of

250 backpacks filled

with school supplies to

families that came to

our office.

In addition to distributing backpacks, BCM donated

hundreds of school supplies to Atlanta Public Schools

Homeless Education Liaison that will help over 200

children attending Atlanta Public Schools that are

experiencing homelessness.

Thank you to all of our generous donors, partners and

volunteers. With you support, this was our most successful

backpack giveaway to date serving over 450 children

throughout Atlanta!

Thank You Sam!

On Friday, August 5th, we said farewell to our second

summer intern, Sam Beltrami, who was referred to BCM by

his mother, Charlotte Beltrami, one of our Helpline

volunteers.

During his internship at BCM, Sam served as an intake

volunteer working one on one

with our clients and assisting

the Emergency Assistance

staff with various projects.

Sam not only contributed a lot

to BCM, but also connected

with several of our clients who

came to know him by name.

At the end of his internship,

Sam informed the staff that he

changed his major to Social

Work based on his experiences

at BCM. We are extremely

grateful for Sam’s support and

wish him all the best with his sophomore year at UGA!
