se direct any inquiries regarding this Code of Conduct to: Jorge-Ann Costley (volun-

[email protected]).

Understand that your role is important. There is an expectation that you will be there.

The race cannot start until all road marshals are in location.

Expectations and Behaviour

As a volunteer, you’re a public face of the MS Amlin World Triathlon Bermuda and your

conduct and performance as a volunteer reflects directly upon the event. We want you

to perform your role in a way that will enhance the reputation of the MS Amlin World Tri-

athlon Bermuda and shows up Bermuda as the great vacation destination that we are.

• Make any offensive or obscene comment or gesture, or use any offensive language

• Do anything that may reflect poorly on the MS Amlin World Triathlon Bermuda

Breach of this Code of Conduct, including inappropriate or unacceptable behavior, may

result in your accreditation being revoked and you being relieved of your volunteer role

with this event.

Although you are performing your role as a volunteer, you have made a commitment to

fulfill your assigned shift(s) and are aware of the requirements of your role.

If at any stage you feel you are no longer able to fulfill the requirements of your role

(whether for health, employment, family or other reasons), please notify your Sector

Head as soon as possible. We would prefer you to introduce us to a replacement, should

you no longer be able to assist.

Training

Training sessions are scheduled for Saturday, April 13, 2019, from 3-5 pm and

Monday, April 15, 2019, starting at 6 pm. Both sessions will be held at the Warwick

Academy Auditorium. There you will meet your Sector Head and will be told exactly what

is required on your shift, who you report to should you need help, and the exact location

of your assignment(s). Your Sector Head may also schedule a more in-depth training

session if needed.

If you are unable to attend either session, please contact us at volunteer@tribermu-

da.com.

UNIFORM, DRESS STANDARD & ACCREDITATIONYou will be provided with a volunteer t-shirt sponsored by PwC that you are required to

wear during your volunteer shift(s). The shirt should be combined with black bottoms

(long pants, or knee-length shorts/skirt) and comfortable CLOSED TOE footwear, run-

ning shoes are recommended. Remember to bring sunscreen and a hat. We recom-

mend you bring a water bottle and we encourage you to remain well hydrated. You are

also allowed to bring an umbrella and chair if you are acting in a race marshal capacity.

Accreditation

You will be provided with an accreditation pass appropriate to your role, and you must

wear it at all times during your volunteer shift.

Uniform collection

Uniform collection will be on Saturday, April 13th after the training session from 15:00

- 17:00 at the Warwick Academy Auditorium. If you cannot collect your uniform on that

day, you can collect it from the Volunteer tent at the entrance of Queen Elizabeth Park

on Queen Street, Hamilton anytime from Thursday, April 25th to race day, Saturday

April 27th.

Personal Belongings

Any personal belongings you bring to the venue are your responsibility and must be kept

with you at all times. We ask that you do not bring any valuables with you. Your Sector

Head will provide guidance for what is appropriate to bring while on shift.

MS Amlin World Triathlon Bermuda is not responsible for any loss, theft, or damage to

any of your personal belongings.

Check-In Time

Check in on Saturday for the morning shift (05:30) for the Age Group Race, and 12:00

for the afternoon shift (12:00 – 18:00) for the Elite Races. Volunteers should check-in at

the start of their shift at the Volunteer tent at the entrance to Queen Elizabeth Park on

Queen Street, UNLESS you have been instructed otherwise by your Sector Head. Check

in for other days will be directed by your Sector Head.

Health & Safety / Lost and Found / Medical Assistance

MS Amlin World Triathlon Bermuda is committed to protecting your health and safe-

contact your Sector Head immediately.

Nonetheless, you must be proactive in taking all practical steps to ensure your own

safety and the safety of others.

If you feel unsafe or at risk at any time while performing your role, please remove

yourself from the situation and notify your Sector Head immediately.

Athlete Safety

Athletes must not accept assistance during the race.

In volunteer training, Course Marshals will be specifically instructed by their Sector Head

what to do in the case of an emergency. A well-meaning Course Marshal could uninten-

tionally disqualify an athlete from the race, so this is important instruction.

Call the Incident Hotline immediately if you see an athlete down and suspect that they

may need help, even before they request it. This will alert the Venue Command Centre to

be on standby, should assistance be required. The hotline will be provied to you – Please

put the number in your cell phone.

Lost & Found

Will be at Pier 6 on Front Street.

Meals

Breakfast or lunch will be provided for volunteers working a 6-hour shift. Meals are pro-

vided as you check-in for your shift. If you have allergies or food sensitivities, please email

[email protected].

Keeping Hydrated

It is important that all volunteers keep hydrated throughout the day. We recommend

that Course Marshals drink plenty of water all day Saturday, April 27th, to properly hyd-

rate your body. Please bring a full water bottle to sip on through your shift. You may wish

to bring a second bottle with you, as there is no refill facility while marshaling the course.

to wear a hat and apply plenty of sunscreen at regular intervals. If in the unfortunate

circumstance of wet weather, please wear waterproofs and bring an umbrella. The race

goes on rain, blow and shine. If the athletes can do it, so can we. We’ll be brave and

show our support in all weather.

There are several public restrooms in the City of Hamilton – Albuoy’s Point, #1 car park

in front of Transition Zone and in the pink building next to the Hamilton Docks. The MS

Amlin World Triathlon Bermuda will also have portable toilets placed along the route out-

side of Hamilton, for marshal and spectator use.

sentative of the MS Amlin World Triathlon Bermuda. Any request from the media for

comment or information should be directed to Vicki Abraham, Head of Local Commu-

nications & Marketing. ([email protected])

the event and should therefore not be offensive, or breech confidentiality.

off. If you must drive, volunteers are permitted to park at Par-la-Ville Car Park. The City

of Hamilton is allowing free parking in Par-la-Ville car park for volunteers from 05:00 –
