The decision to purchase this property was not difficult given the fact that it was between two lots that the church already owned. Last year the trustees here at KHCC spent a great deal of time in prayer and discussion as they worked to decide what to do with the house on this property. At the time of their delibera- tions we were using the house for storage, which wasn’t considered a good long-term use for the property since it significantly increased our insurance payments. The trustees spent many months investigating the possibility of remodeling the house so that it could be rented out as office space. They also considered renting the house as a resi- dence. The option of selling the house and having it moved from the property was also investi- gated. All of these options proved too costly and would have put the church in a risky financial position. Last August the decision was made, in consultation with the church board and the financial oversight committee, to have the house demolished and the property turned into a green space. In March of 2012 our church’s trustees seized the opportunity to purchase the property on Kings Highway adjacent to both our parking lot and the house we own on the corner of Thornhill and Kings Highway (Casa Esperanza). The decision to purchase this property was not difficult given the fact that it was between two lots that the church already owned.

Last year the trustees here at KHCC spent a great deal of time in prayer and discussion as they worked to decide what to do with the house on this property. At the time of their delibera-tions we were using the house for storage, which wasn’t considered a good long-term use for the property since it significantly increased our insurance payments.

The trustees spent many months investigating the possibility of remodeling the house so that it could be rented out as office space. They also considered renting the house as a resi-dence. The option of selling the house and having it moved from the property was also investi-gated. All of these options proved too costly and would have put the church in a risky financial position.

Last August the decision was made, in consultation with the church board and the financial oversight committee, to have the house demolished and the property turned into a green space. In September the trustees accepted bids from companies who specialize in demolition and after due consideration signed a contract with one of those companies. The demolition of the house was delayed for many weeks because of the inclement weather we experienced in the autumn and the unexpected need to remove asbestos from the house. The destruction of the house was begun and concluded last week.

Over the course of 2016, the Stewardship committee would like to highlight and discuss each letter of the word, Stewardship, and what it means. The first S stands for Sharing. As Christians we need to share our own personal experiences and love of our Lord Jesus Christ with one another as well as those who may not believe. This sharing should be done with enthusiasm and passion. We want to ignite a fire within people to serve the Lord and one another. Remember the song Pass It On. It starts off with…”It only takes a spark to get a fire going and soon all those around will warm up in it’s glowing.” There are many ways to share at KHCC such as participating in Sunday School, a fellowship dinner, Disciple’s women’s group, Bible study, Casa Esperanza, Highland Blessing’s Dinner, or even a commit-tee (like Stewardship). Please prayerfully consider the sharing aspect of Stewardship and Ignite the Fire!

A Mission Trip Invitation! Have you ever thought about going to another country to serve the needy?

If so, I have something to whisper into your soul. Since Jesus and I have been serving in this

church for almost twelve years now, we feel in our hearts that is time to go on a mission trip

to our native country Honduras to serve the needy and take you with us to extend God’s

blessings to others; at the same time we will enjoy the beauty of Honduras.

So I am beyond excited to tell you that we have finally planned it — a Honduras mission trip

just for you!

In June 2016 we’ll be gathering a group of 15 people — I hope you are one of them — to

serve the broken and impoverished in Comayagua City, which is the city where Jesus grew up.

Here are the specifics:

When: June 5th to 10th 2016

Day 1: Arrival to San Pedro Sula & transfer to Comayagua

Days 2, 3 & 4: Working days

Day 5: Transfer to The Mayan City in Copan

Day 6: Transfer to San Pedro Sula & Return to the US

Mission Work: “Horizontes del Futuro” - an orphan house that provides housing, food

and school to children of the street until they graduate from high school.

“Casa de Maternidad” – a house provided for moms from outside of the city of Comay-

agua who come to deliver their babies at Comayagua’s regional hospital.

Total Trip cost per person: $1,899.00

More than a trip this is about serving and helping those in need. Sign up before Febru-

ary 15th as the spots are limited. There are only 15 spots for this trip. Don’t hesitate if

you feel the nudge, just step out in faith and obey the whisper. I’m excited to see what

God does with this special group of 15. He wants YOU to be a part. I can’t wait to go

with you to Honduras!
