SANKALP SE SIDDHI PROGRAMME
(DETERMINATION TO ATTAINMENT)
Sankalp Se Siddhi Programme was organised at ICAR-K.H.PATIL KRISHI VIGYAN
KENDRA, HULKOTI in collaboration with Agricultural Technology Management Agency,
Gadag on 04-09-2017 at its presmises.
The Sankalp se Siddhi event was started
with screening of message given by
Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra
Modi. Then the programme was
inaugurated by Shri Shivakumar Udasi,
Honourable Member of Parliament, Haveri
Constituency. He addressed the gathering
and said that the Sankalp se Siddhi
programme is organised by Government of
India on the celebration of 75th Quit India
Movement for the Growth and Development of the Nation. He called upon the farmers to
double their income through participation in various programmes of Government of India
viz., Soil Health, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayi Yojane, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bheema
Yojane, Integrated Farming System, National Food Security Mission and many others.
Shri S.P.Baligar, Chairman, Standing
Committee on Agriculture and Industry, Zilla
Panchyat, Gadag participated as Chief Guest.
He called upon farmers to adopt Scientific
Technologies in Agriculture and make use of
Government facilities for doubling of their farm
income. Further, he stressed the importance of
establishment of godowns and cold storage
facilities at every Gram Panchayat to minimise
the wastage of agriculture commodities. Shri
Vasanna Kuradagi, President, Zilla Panchayat, Gadag presided over the function. He
stressed the importance of adoption of technologies in agriculture as well as subsidiary
occupations for doubling of farmers’ income. Dr L.G.Hiregoudar, Programme Coordinator
and Head welcomed the Guests. Shri S.H.Adapur briefed about the importance of
organising the Sankalp Se Siddhi programme. On this eve, the Sankalp Se Siddhi pledge

was administered by Shri C.B.Balaraddi, Joint Director of Agriculture, Gadag. On this
occasion, the Leaflet on “Cultivation and Nutrition of Millets” prepared and published by
ATMA, Gadag was released by Honourable Member of Parliament Shri Shivakumar Udasi.
Shri C.G.Koravanavar, Chariman, Krishi Vigyan Kendra was present on this occassion. Dr.
B.T.Rayudu, Principal Scientist, ICAR-ATARI Bengaluru participated in this event as an
expert from ICAR. The Zilla Panchayat Members, Smt.Shakuntala Mulimani, Smt.Shobha
Meti and Taluk Panchayat Members Shri Mohan Durgannavar and Shri Tambaragundi
were also present. The Gadag District Heads of Development Departments viz., Shri
Shailendra Biradar, Deputy Director of Horticulture, Dr.S.S.Patil, Deputy Director of
Department of Animal Husbandary and Veterinary Services, Shri H.R.Amaranath, Deputy
Director, Sericulture and Shri Chandraprabha, Deputy Conservator of Forest were present.
Then, the Inspirational film on ‘Gandhi’ was screened to the audience. Shri Sahadev

Deputy Director of Agriculture Gadag
presented vote of thanks. Then the
farmers visited the Exhibition where in
exhibits on various agricultural
technologies like Improved varieties,
Millets, Irrigation equipments, Organic
farming, Soil & Water conservation
technologies, Value added products and
Green fodders along with 7 points charts
enumerating various schemes of Government of India benefitting the farmers in doubling of
their farm income were arranged. More than 450 farmers participated in this programme.
IMPORTANCE OF SOIL TESTING
Final year B.Sc (Agri) Students of University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad under
RAWE programme conducted training and demonstration of soil collection methods,
importance of soil testing under the guidance of ICAR-K.H.Patil Krishi Vigyan Kendra,
Hulkoti and Dr.S.S.Gudlur, Professor, University of Agricultural Science, Dharwad.
Farmers of Hosalli, Shagoti, Hirehandigol and Dundur village were benefited.

FIELD DAY ON GREENGRAM
Field day on cluster demonstration of Greengram under National Food Security Mission
was conducted in Papanashi village of Gadag Taluk on 25-08-2017. The Integrated Crop
Management on Greengram variety DGGV-2 was demonstrated. The field day was
conducted in Shri Ramappa Shivappa Irajjanavar field and the programme was presided
over by a progressive farmer Shri Ramanagouda Devendragouda Patil of Papanashi
village. Shri.S.K.Mudlapur, Scientist of Krishi Vigyan Kendra briefed the importance of
cultivating DGGV-2 variety, management of pests and disease etc. The importance of soil
testing and soil collecting methods were briefed by Shri.N.H.Bhandi, Scientist (Soil
Science) of Krishi Vigyan Kendra. More than 100 farmers participated in the field day.
TRAINING ON SHIV YOG KRISHI
One day training programme on Shiv Yog Krishi was held at KVK on 23-08-2017. The
programme was inaugurated by Mrs.Jayashree Tolannavar, an expert in Shiv Yog Krishi.
In her speech she called upon the farmers to reduce the cost in agriculture through Shiv
Yog Krishi practices which are scientifically proven
methods. Further, she said that this Shiv Yog Krishi is
a historic and vedic traditional method of cultivating
crops which helps to improve the soil fertility as well
as improvement in quality and quantity of farm
produce. Further she said that consumption of crops
grown under Shiv Yog Krishi will improve the health
status of farmers, animals etc. The Shiv Yog Krishi
has been popularized by Shri Avadoot Baba
Shivanandji by recitation of mantras and slokas daily. The video on Shiv Yog Krishi was
shown to farmers. On this occasion, Shri Ashoka Tolannavar and Shri Ganesha Pujari of
Shiv Yog Krishi were participated. Shri Megharaj Bhavi, shared his experiences as he is
following Shiv Yog Krishi for the last three years. More than 100 farmers participated in the
training programme.
CELEBRATION OF WORLD HONEYBEE DAY
On 19-08-2017 ICAR-K.H.Patil Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hulkoti celebrated the World
Honeybee Day. The programme was inaugurated by
Dr.L.G.Hiregoudar, Programme Coordinator and
Head, KVK Hulkoti. He called upon the farmers for
adoption of Honeybee technology in fields for
enhancing the agricultural productivity as well as for
getting additional income through the preparation of
value added products of honey. Dr.S.S.Guledagudda,
Professor, UAS, Dharwad spoke on economics of
honeybee keeping. KVK Scientist Shri S.K.Mudlapur delivered guest lecture on honeybee

cultivation. The importance of Honey Bee Day was narrated by KVK Scientist Shri
S.H.Adapur. More than 150 farmers and students of UAS, Dharwad participated in the
event. On this occasion the exhibition was organized by the students of UAS, Dharwad on
honeybee cultivation.
WORLD BIO-FUEL DAY
ICAR-K.H.Patil Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hulkoti organised World Biofuel day in association
with Karnataka State Council for Science and
Technology, Bengaluru. The event was
inaugurated by Dr.S.S.Guledagudda, Professor,
University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad.
He
emphasised
the need for
use of
alternate
fuels in lieu of convention fuels in order to address the
issues related to climatic changes and environment.
He requested the farmers to cultivate biofuel crops like
Pongemia, Neem, Simarouba etc on the field bunds.
The Subject Matter Specialists of KVK delivered guest lectures related to biofuel cultivation
and biodiesel production. As a part of programme, seed balls of biofuel crops were
prepared and distributed to the farmers.
TRAINING ON DOUBLING OF FARMERS' INCOME
On 19-08-2017, the training on Doubling of Farmers' Income was organized at ICAR-K.H.Patil Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hulkoti. The programme was inaugurated by
Shri.N.Parthasarathy, Director, Gadag Institute for Training in Self Employment and Rural Development. In his inaugural address he requested the farmers to adopt integrated farming system to enhance the family income. He also requested farmers to save some part of their income for future livelihood security. During the occasion, KVK scientists disseminated the technologies on soil and water conservation, rain water harvesting,
intercropping systems, organic farming, dry land horticulture and integrated farming system. More than 150 farmers participated in the event.

SEMINAR ON PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY OF MANGO AND
DEMONSTRATION ON TOP PRUNING
KVK, Gadag in collaboration with University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot and Mango
Growers Association, Hulkoti organised Seminar on Production Technology of Mango and
Demonstration on Top Pruning on 21-07-2017. The
event was inaugurated by Shri G.R.Odugoudar,
President, Mango Growers Association, Hulkoti. He
called upon the mango growers to enhance the
productivity and quality of mango production. Dr.
L.G.Hiregoudar, Programme Coordinator of KVK,
Gadag spoke on role of KVK in crop diversification
efforts in Gadag district. Due to recuring droughts
occurring in Gadag district, the cultivation of Mango
and Cashew in red soil were found to be more suitable and in turn it helps in livelihood
improvement as well as Income security to farmers. Dr. S. Shashi Kumar, Extension
Leader, University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot spoke on schemes and facilities of
University for promotion of Horticulture crops. Dr. A. Shrinath, Scientist, University of
Horticulture Sciences, Bagalkot demonstrated the top pruning of Mango using the pruning
equipment. Dr.J.B.Gopal spoke on pest and disease management in Mango. Dr.J.Anand
spoke on nutrient management in Mango. The post harvest technology and value addition
was covered by Dr.Deepa Teradal, Scientist, UHS, Bagalkot. On this occasion an app
called “Horti App” developed by UHS was demonstrated to farmers. More than 150 farmers
participated in the Seminar.
ORIENTATION TRAINING FOR NEWLY RECRUITED KVK STAFF
ICAR-KVK, Hulkoti hosted 3 days orientation training for the newly recruited KVK staff of
University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad. The training was organised and sponsored

Action Plan preparation, Revolving fund, Convergence at KVK level and extension

programmes. Village visit was organised for conducting PRA to guide the participants in
the preparation of Action Plan. 31 KVK staff under the jurisdiction of UAS, Dharwad
participated in the training.
PROGRAMME CONDUCTED UNDER NICRA
Under National Initiative for Crop Resilient Agriculture, the following demonstration and
programmes were conducted in Mahalingapur village of Gadag block.
1. Demonstration of mixed cropping of Maize+Redgram (5:1) crop in 40 farmers’ field
in 40 Acres of land is being carried out.
2. The Horsegram variety J.P.M-6 is demonstrated in 5 farmers’ fields in 5 Acres of
land
3. Demonstration of ICM in Rabi Sorghum in low moisture condition is conducted in
10 farmers’ fields in 10 Acres of land.
4. The Integrated Crop Management practices in Bengalgram variety JAKI-9218 was
demonstrated in 10 farmers’ fields in 10 Acres of land
5. The planting of Cashew Seedlings was done in 5 Acres of land to promote dry land
horticulture
BRUCELLOSIS SENSITISATION TRAINING PROGRAM
In collaboration with ICAR-NIVEDI, ICAR-KVK, Hulkoti has organised the training
programme to sensitize the In-service Personnel of Department of Animal Husbandry and
Veterinary Sciences of Gadag district about Brucellosis on 31-08-2017. Dr.Rajeshwari
Shome, Principal Scientist and Dr.Jagadish sensitised the participants with details of
Brucellosis. More than 50 Personnel participated in the programme
SWACHATHA HI SEVA
Under Swachatha Bharat Abhiyan from September 15th to October 2nd 2017, the following
programmes were conducted in KVK Campus as well as in adopted villages of KVK. The
programmes were conducted on the theme Swachhata Hi Seva to farmers, farm women,

ON-FARM TESTINGS
On-Farm testing on Rabi Sorghum varieties namely SPV-2217 and BJV-44 under Sand
Mulching were laid out in 3.6 hectares in 6 farmers fields in Eklaspur village of Mundaragi
Block
FRONTLINE DEMONSTRATIONS
Demonstration of Ashwagandha (Jawahar variety) as Medicinal and Dryland
horticulture crop was conducted at Eklaspur village of Mundaragi Taluk in
10 farmers’ fields in 4 hectares of land.
Demonstration of Integrated Crop Management in Chilli was conducted in Kurthakoti
village of Gadag Block in 10 farmers’ fields in 4 hectares area.
Demonstration of Nutrition Garden was conducted in Government schools of
Binkadakatti village (Gadag Block) and Eklaspur village (Mundaragi Taluk). Two
vermicompost production units were also established in Schools
Ten Organic Input Production units were established in Eklaspur (Mundaragi Taluk),
Khanapur (Naragund Taluk) and Kochalapur (Ron Taluk) villages.
Demonstration of Rabi Sorghum varieties, namely SPV-2217 and BJV-44 were
conducted in Eklaspur (Mundaragi Taluk), Khanapur (Naragund Taluk) and Madolli
(Shirahatti taluk) villages
Under NMOOP, demonstrations of Integrated Crop Management in Sunflower were
laid out in Eklaspur (Mundaragi Taluk) village in 20 hectares area of 50 farmers’
fields.
SPONSORED TRAINING
July-September, 2017: Under the sponsorship of Command Area Development
Authority, Belgaum, KVK trained 1183 farmers in 27 batches of Naragund,
Navalgund, Savadatti and Ramadurga Taluks. The training topics were Water and
Soil Conservation Methods, Management of Agriculture and Horticulture crops in the
Command Area, Plant Protection measures, Cultivation and Importance of Millets in
daily diet.
September, 2017: Krishi Vigyan Kendra organized 10 trainings to 300 farmers on
production technology of Agriculture and Horticulture crops. Importance of millets in
daily diet etc under the sponsorship of KSDA, Gadag
September 25th , 2017: In collaboration with Shri Kshetra Dharmastala Rural Development Project, KVK oragnised one day training on Organic Input Production.

TRAINING PROGRAMMES
July, 2017: Three trainings on Management of Orchard were conducted to
148 farmers.
July 2017: Capacity building and Awareness programme to 35 members of Farmers
Producer company was organized.
August, 2017: Integrated Crop Management in Ashwagandha crop was organized
to 10 farmers.
July & August, 2017: The trainings on Integrated Crop Management practices in
Chilli were organized to 50 farmers.
July, August & September, 2017: The trainings on Integrated Pest Management
and Control Measures was organized to 288 farmers.
July, August & September, 2017: The trainings on Integrated Crop Management practices in Kharif crops were organized in Eklaspur (Mundaragi Taluk), Kochalapur (Ron Taluk), Yalavatti (Shirahatti taluk) villages. Totally 240 farmers participated in these trainings.
July, August & September, 2017: Scientific Dairy Management trainings were organized to 116 farmers.
August, September, 2017: A total of 344 Anganwadi workers of Women and Child Welfare Department working in Naragund and Ron Block were trained in balanced diet, Nutrition and Importance of Millets in diet.
September, 2017: Four training programmes on Production Technology, Processing, Value addition and Marketing of millets were organized to 171 farmers.
September, 2017: Advanced Dress Designing training was organized to 37 youths for 15 days in Binkadakatti village of Gadag Block.
