DESCRIPTION

Poster Talk Through Think, Pair, Share Here are Liv Arneson and Ann Bancroft, the first women to conquer, or overcome, Antarctica. They were teachers who thought that it was their destiny, or fate to cross the continent. They mapped their trip before they went so they would not need a navigator, or guide. They prepared for the ninety-four day expedition by training hard and gathering the proper equipment. They traveled by ski and ski-sail. They insulated themselves with special clothing to stay warm. They endured bitter cold and utter isolation from any other people. They kept a Web journal throughout the trip to verify, or prove, that they did it. More than three million school children visited Arneson and Bancroft’s web site to follow their journey.
