...Different Tubes In glass & plastic

Even if our standard range of capillary tubes is probably the most comprehensive available worldwide and should cover most requirements, we have - in close cooperation with our customers - developed a remarkable variety of tailor made liquid handling solutions, which far exceeds our standard dimensions. We know from experience that small changes and product modifica-tions are of great significance for biotechnological applications etc. and it´s part of our strategy to bring more focus on customized manufacturing.

We have become the largest manu-facturer of capillary tubes in the world today by developing equipment,

establishing technologies, and optimising production processes. This is a position we are very proud of having achieved - and we intend to keep it. Today, Vitrex Medical a/s also develops and markets lancets and lan- cing devices, as well as pipettes and related products for a variety of segments within the health care sector. Our products meet all relevant international standards and we carry ISO 9001 and ISO 13485, the CE mark and we are FDA registered. Vitrex products are exported to more than 80 countries all over the world. Our customers include international organisations, government institu-tions, large national importers/distributors and large OEM customers. Each market has its unique culture, needs and demands. From the beginning of Vitrex Medical, the “locomotive” in the develop-ment of the company has been the production facilities in Denmark. And in accordance with our philosophy these facilities, as well as R&D, will remain in Denmark, supplemented by a worldwide network of selected production partners and sub-suppliers. In addition to the comprehensive, standardised range of products, we have developed a large variety of specialised products, i.e. high preci-sion volumetric pipettes, pulling pipettes for a.o. genemanipulation, and a variety of other highly specialised glass tubes. The vast varieties of experience gathered from more than 45 years of developing products within our field makes us an attractive and versa-tile partner in development and business. With this in mind our focus is to meet our customers’ demands for: Quality – Reliability – Economy and Flexibility. In short: advanced simplicity

VITREX micro-haematocrit tubes are quality products that conform to international standard ISO 12772. The tubes are supplied fire polished at the colour-coded end which we recommend should be sealed with VITREX Sigillum Wax. Fire polishing reduces wear on the centrifuge seals. Supplied with colour-coding on the packaging and on the tubes in plain (blue colour), or with uniform sodium heparinisation (red colour), ammonium heparinisation (green colour) or lithium heparinisation (or-ange colour). Each heparinised tube contains at least 4 IU heparin as prescribed by the Standard.

PackagingThe tubes are available in two types of packaging: Dispenser vials of 100 tubes each for hy gienic and easy handling; and economy cardboard boxes which reduce transport and hand ling costs. Special requirements regarding marking, dimen sions or impregnation can be met. AccessoriesThe Sigillum Wax plate has 2x24 numbered positions per pair which makes it easy to seal and transport samples. Each pair can be forced apart and used separately. The even wax layer ensures uniform sealing. Wax Plates See page 5 Alcohol Swabs See page 36 Lancets See page 26-35

Product name Description Application Properties

Monolac violet and natural

Monofilament fromGlycolide and ε−caprolactone

Designed for use in general soft tissue approximation, urology, gynecology, plastic and gastrointestinal surgery.

Monofilament with high tensile strength and excellent handling properties. Monolac violet retains 7 days after implantation ca. 60 % (natural ca. 50%) and after 14 days ca. 30% (natural ca. 20%) of it´s original tensile strength. Absorption is completed between 90-120 days.

Chirlacrapid braidedviolet and natural

Braided suture from coated Polyglycolicacid

Closure of skin, particularly in paediatric surgery, gynaecology(e.g. episiotomies), ophthalmic surgery (e.g. conjunctive suturing)

The thread is coated with an absorbable substance. This reduce the capillary effect. High tensile strength. 5 days after implantation approximately 60 % of it´s original tensile strength remain. All of the original ten-sile strength is lost by appr. 12 to 14 days post impl. Completely material absorption 30–40 days.

Chirlac braidedviolet and natural

Braided suture from coatedPolyglycolicacid

For use in general soft tissue ap-proximation and/or ligation, for the adaptation of muscles and fasciae, for suturing of parenchymalorgans, peripheral nerves, for ligatures of small vessels and for intradermal suturing.

The thread with high tensile strength is coated with an absorbable substance. This reduces the capillary effect. 14 days after im-plantation appr. 75 % of it´s original tensile strength remain. 21 days after implantation appr. 50 % of it´s original tensile strength remain. Absorption is com-pleted after 80-90 days.

Polydoxviolet

Monofilament from Poly(p−dioxanone)

For use in general soft tissue ap-proximation. These sutures are par-ticularly useful where the combina-tion of an absorbable and extended wound support is desirable.

Monofilament with excellent knotting properties and high tensile strength. 6 weeks post implanta-tion the thread remain ca. 50 % of it´s original tensile strength. After 180-210 days it is completely absorbed.

The publication of the European Pharma-copoeia (Ph. Eur.) resulted in a standardi-zation of the classification of threads and gauges of surgical suture material. The Ph. Eur. specifies a decimal classifi-cation and metric coding for the gauges. It quotes a thread diameter of 1/10 mm, so that the thread gauge of 3.5 has a diameter of 0,35 mm. The following table of the gauges gives a comparison of the metric and the USP gauge coding.
